Role Purpose -
Build and manage a reliable, cost-efficient, and scalable supply chain that supports rapid growth without creating stock-outs, excess inventory, or working capital stress. This role ensures the commercial engine never slows down due to operational gaps.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Capacity Management Convert monthly demand forecasts into detailed production plans (SKU-wise, batch wise). Align with manufacturing to optimize batch sizes, changeovers, and capacity utilization. Monitor yield, batch variance, and rejection rates; flag deviations early. Coordinate pilot-to-commercial transitions for new R&D variants.
2. Raw Material & Packaging Procurement Develop and manage vendor base for actives, excipients, stabilizers, packaging materials. Negotiate pricing, MOQs, and credit terms aligned with cash cycle goals. Establish alternate suppliers to reduce dependency risk. Monitor lead times and supply risk (seasonal raw materials, import exposure, etc.).
3. Inventory & Working Capital Optimization Define safety stock norms per SKU based on seasonality and demand volatility. Track RM, WIP, and FG inventory days; reduce slow-moving and obsolete stock. Drive inventory turns improvement without affecting service levels. Minimize expiry losses and write-offs (critical in biosolutions).
4. Distribution & Logistics Management Ensure timely dispatch to distributors, FPOs, and institutional customers. Track OTIF performance across regions. Optimize freight contracts and transport planning. Monitor secondary dispatch cycles during peak season.
5. Cost & Margin Control Track landed cost per SKU (RM + conversion + packaging + freight). Identify cost-saving initiatives (vendor renegotiation, batch optimization, freight pooling). Support COGS targets for new product commercialization.
6. Systems & Process Discipline Build SOPs for procurement, dispatch, stock reconciliation, and returns. Implement simple but strong tracking systems (ERP / Excel / MIS). Drive inventory audits and compliance checks. KPIs OTIF ≥ defined target Inventory days within range (RM, WIP, FG) Stock-out incidents reduced quarter-on-quarter Expiry/wastage < threshold % COGS variance vs target Working capital efficiency (DIO improvement) Supplier lead time adherence
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Production) or Supply Chain/Operations. 4-8 years’ experience in manufacturing supply chain (agri-inputs, chemicals, biotech, FMCG preferred). Hands-on experience with vendor negotiations and inventory control.
