ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Visual Lead who can both direct films and design books. You will ship 2 short films per year — narrative shorts, documentaries, music videos, or brand stories — and design all 3–4 of our annual book covers and interiors. You will also build and maintain nBook Media's entire visual brand system. This is a hybrid craft role: we need one person who can carry both the camera and the typographic pen.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
· Direct and edit 2 short films per year — narrative shorts, documentaries, music videos, or brand stories.
· Design all of nBook Media's book covers and interior layouts, including Tamil typography.
· Build and maintain nBook Media's visual brand system: colour, type, logo applications, templates.
· Shoot lightweight in-house content when budget does not justify a full crew.
· Commission and art-direct freelance cinematographers, colourists, illustrators, and animators.
· Grade and finish films in DaVinci Resolve.
· Supervise visual output across our website, social media, and marketing materials.
WHAT YOU MUST BRING
· A film school background (LV Prasad, Mindscreen, MGR, FTII, SRFTI, Whistling Woods) OR a design school background (NID, Srishti, IDC) with proven crossover work in the other craft.
· 3–5 years of shipping short films, brand films, or book / editorial design.
· A public portfolio with at least 3 short films AND 3 book or editorial designs, visible online.
· Fluency in DaVinci Resolve and Premiere (or Final Cut).
· Fluency in InDesign, Figma, and Illustrator.
· Competence with a mirrorless camera (Sony / Fuji / Canon) — you can shoot competently when needed.
· A Chennai address, or readiness to relocate immediately.
