Job Summary
The Billing Executive is responsible for preparing accurate patient bills, processing cashless and corporate transactions, collecting payments, maintaining billing records, and ensuring a seamless billing experience for patients. The role requires compliance with hospital billing policies, insurance guidelines, and NABH standards while delivering excellent customer service.
Key ResponsibilitiesBilling Operations
- Generate accurate inpatient (IPD), outpatient (OPD), emergency, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, and procedure bills.
- Verify patient demographics, services rendered, and applicable charges before finalizing bills.
- Ensure timely and accurate billing for admissions, discharges, and outpatient services.
- Process cash, card, UPI, cheque, and online payment transactions.
- Issue receipts and maintain proper payment records.
- Handle billing corrections, adjustments, refunds, and cancellations after obtaining necessary approvals.
Insurance & TPA Coordination
- Process cashless and corporate billing as per TPA and insurance guidelines.
- Coordinate with the TPA/Insurance team for pre-authorizations, approvals, and billing queries.
- Verify package rates and corporate agreements before billing.
- Ensure accurate documentation for insurance claims.
Patient Service
- Explain billing details and payment procedures to patients and attendants.
- Resolve billing-related queries courteously and professionally.
- Coordinate with clinical and support departments to ensure timely billing.
Cash Handling & Reporting
- Maintain daily cash collections and reconcile them with the Hospital Information System (HIS).
- Prepare end-of-shift cash reports and hand over collections as per hospital policy.
- Report any discrepancies immediately to the Billing Manager.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate billing records and supporting documents.
- Ensure compliance with hospital billing policies, statutory requirements, and NABH standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and financial information.
- Participate in internal and external audits related to billing.
Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (B.Com), Business Administration (BBA), Hospital Management, or any graduate from a recognized university.
- Certification in Hospital Billing or Medical Coding will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 0–2 years: Billing Executive (Fresher with hospital internship may also be considered).
- 2–5 years: Experience in hospital billing, TPA, or healthcare finance preferred.
- Knowledge of Hospital Information Systems (HIS) and TPA billing is desirable.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of hospital billing processes and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with TPA, insurance, and corporate billing procedures.
- Proficiency in MS Office and Hospital Information Systems (HIS).
- Good numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet billing timelines.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.

- Accuracy of billing with minimal errors.
- Timely generation of OPD, IPD, and discharge bills.
- Daily cash reconciliation without discrepancies.
- Patient satisfaction related to billing services.
- Compliance with TPA, insurance, and NABH requirements.
- Timely closure of billing queries and documentation.
Working Conditions
- Rotational shifts, including weekends and public holidays as per hospital operations.
- Continuous interaction with patients, attendants, clinical teams, finance, and insurance coordinators.
- Work may involve prolonged computer usage and handling financial transactions.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
