An Assistant Front Office Manager (AFOM) supports the Front Office Manager in overseeing daily operations, leading front desk staff, and ensuring high guest satisfaction. Key duties include training staff, managing guest check-ins/outs, resolving complaints, auditing financial transactions, and coordinating with housekeeping. They act as a key leader, often working irregular shifts to manage lobby safety and service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Management: Oversee daily front desk operations, including guest registration, room assignments, and checkout procedures to ensure seamless service.
- Staff Leadership & Training: Supervise, train, and mentor receptionists and concierge staff, including monitoring appearance, performance, and attendance.
- Guest Service & Complaint Resolution: Handle complex guest complaints, resolve disputes, and ensure a high level of satisfaction.
- Financial & Reports: Review daily balances, credit card transactions, cash payments, rebates, and night audit reports.
- Coordination: Collaborate with housekeeping and maintenance departments to ensure room availability, accuracy of status reports, and cleanliness.
- Safety & Compliance: Serve on the Emergency Response Team and ensure hotel security protocols are followed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Prior experience as a receptionist, supervisor, or shift leader in a hotel setting is usually required.
- Education: A degree or diploma in Hospitality Management or related field is often preferred.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for guest interaction and staff management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in PMS (Property Management Systems) and MS Office programs.
- Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
- Leadership: Strong organizational, decision-making, and leadership abilities.
