Overview:
StoneX Group Inc. is a Fortune 100 global financial services firm connecting clients to markets across asset classes and geographies. Our technology underpins trading, clearing, and settlement at scale — where reliability, performance, and security are non-negotiable. Our Bangalore office is a strategic engineering and operations hub, and this role sits at the center of how we keep a global, follow-the-sun infrastructure running.
We're hiring a Director of Infrastructure Management to lead the teams responsible for the core compute, operating systems, and database platforms that power StoneX globally. Based in Bangalore, you'll own the reliability, performance, and resilience of infrastructure that spans multiple regions and runs 24/7 in a demanding, low-latency financial environment — leading a distributed group of managers and engineers, and partnering closely with security, networking, and application teams. This is a senior leadership role with global scope, high visibility, and a foundation of deep technical credibility.
Responsibilities:
The Director of Infrastructure Operations is accountable for the stability, scalability, and security of StoneX's global infrastructure platforms. Key responsibilities include:
Lead globally distributed teams across Database Operations, Systems/Server Operations, and Linux Engineering — setting direction, developing managers, and building a high-performing, accountable engineering culture.
- Own reliability and performance for mission-critical, 24/7 trading and back-office systems, with clear SLAs, error budgets, and measurable uptime targets.
- Drive modernization and automation — reduce toil through infrastructure-as-code and self-healing systems; advance cloud and hybrid strategies.
- Lead Agentic AI adoption across infrastructure operations — implement AI-driven agents and automation to streamline processes, reduce cost, and shorten incident detection-to-resolution (MTTR) on mission-critical systems.
- Establish operational excellence — mature incident, problem, and change management; lead major-incident response and blameless post-incident reviews.
- Strengthen security and compliance with InfoSec — patching, hardening, access governance, and audit readiness in a regulated environment.
- Manage capacity, lifecycle, and cost across data centers and cloud — forecasting, OS/hardware refresh cycles, and right-sizing for performance and spend.
- Grow the Bangalore hub — build regional capability, talent, and ownership within a seamless follow-the-sun global operating model.
Qualifications:
Experience & Leadership
- 12+ years in IT infrastructure / systems engineering, with 5+ years leading teams — including leading managers.
- Proven track record running mission-critical, high-availability environments — ideally financial services, trading, or another regulated, low-latency industry.
- Experience leading distributed, multi-region teams in a follow-the-sun model.
Technical Depth
- Strong command of Linux engineering at enterprise scale (RHEL or equivalent).
- Solid grounding in database operations (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and systems/server operations across hybrid data-center + cloud.
- Hands-on with automation/IaC (Ansible, Terraform), observability, and modern incident management.
- Demonstrated experience implementing Agentic AI / AI-driven automation in production operations to streamline workflows, reduce cost, and lower incident resolution time.
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure / AWS) and virtualization (Broadcomm, Nutanix).
Leadership Competencies
- A builder of people and teams who coaches managers and raises the hiring bar.
- Calm and decisive under pressure; outcomes-driven and process-anchored.
- Communicates fluidly from deep technical detail to executive stakeholders.
Preferred
- Bachelor's / Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Relevant certifications (RHCE, cloud architect/engineer, ITIL) a plus.
- Backfill of a critical leadership role — replaces the departing Director (leaving end of September) who leads Database Operations, Systems Operations, and Linux Engineering, the platforms running StoneX's 24/7 global trading infrastructure. Leaving it vacant risks reliability and incident governance on revenue-critical systems.
- Strategically repositioned to Bangalore — the team is already distributed across London, Krakow, and New York, so Bangalore adds follow-the-sun coverage, taps deep senior infrastructure and AI talent, and delivers cost efficiency while growing our India engineering hub.
- Hire now to drive continuity and AI-led modernization — an immediate start enables knowledge-transfer overlap with the departing Director and accelerates Agentic AI adoption that streamlines operations, reduces cost, and cuts incident resolution time.
