Job Summary
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for conducting clinical laboratory tests to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating diseases. This role requires technical proficiency in operating both radiographic and laboratory equipment, strict adherence to safety and hygiene protocols, and a strong commitment to patient care.
Core Responsibilities
Laboratory & Pathological Duties
- Sample Collection: Perform phlebotomy (blood draws) safely and efficiently. Collect, label, and process other biological specimens.
- Diagnostic Testing: Conduct routine tests in hematology, biochemistry, clinical pathology, and microbiology according to standard operating procedures.
- Quality Control: Run daily controls on laboratory analyzers, calibrate equipment, and maintain strict quality assurance to ensure accurate test results.
- Biomedical Waste Disposal: Handle and dispose of hazardous bio-materials, sharps, and chemical waste strictly according to local biomedical waste management guidelines.
Administrative & General Duties
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate patient logs, test results, and imaging records in the hospital's database or Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Inventory Management: Track and order laboratory reagents, X-ray films, PPE, and other medical supplies to prevent stockouts.
- Infection Control: Sterilize equipment and maintain a hygienic, sanitized workspace to prevent cross-contamination.
Required Qualifications
- Education:
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT / BMLT).
- Registration: Valid registration with the relevant state or national paramedical council/board.
- Experience: Previous clinical experience operating handling diagnostic lab tests is highly preferred or first class freshers is also encouraged to apply.

- Attention to Detail: Precision in labeling samples, mixing reagents, and capturing targeted medical images.
- Patient Compassion: Excellent bedside manner, especially when dealing with anxious patients, children, or the elderly during blood draws or imaging.
