Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing Engineer
Glassware Design & Tooling
Location: Tepla, India Department: Glassware Production Reports To: Production Manager / Product Development Lead
Role Overview
Eisco is seeking a hands-on technical professional to own the complete design and tooling lifecycle for our glassware range — from precision SolidWorks models and manufacturing drawings through to tooling fabrication and maintenance on the shop floor. This role suits someone with expertise in both CAD and CNC machining.
Key Responsibilities
CAD Design & Documentation
- Own the end-to-end SolidWorks design of all glassware products, producing accurate 2D and 3D models, assembly drawings, and revision-controlled documentation managed through the company PLM system.
- Prepare manufacturing drawings with complete tolerance specifications, GD&T annotations, BOMs, and material callouts in compliance with ISO/DIN standards.
- Maintain drawing standards, part libraries, and templates; manage engineering change orders (ECN/ECO) and uphold revision histories.
- Generate exploded views, technical documentation, and product illustrations for manuals and catalogues.
Tooling Design
- Design manufacturing tooling — including forming dies and related fixtures — required to produce glassware to specification.
- Develop tooling drawings and models in SolidWorks, ensuring designs are manufacturable, serviceable, and optimised for production throughput and accuracy.
- Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to validate tooling designs against product requirements before fabrication.
Shop Floor — Machining & Maintenance
- Operate CNC routing and milling equipment to fabricate tooling from design files, working directly on the shop floor alongside the production team.
- Perform routine and corrective maintenance on tooling, proactively identifying wear, dimensional drift, or defects and taking remedial action.
- Ensure tooling is kept in production-ready condition, maintaining accurate service records.
General & Cross-functional
- Support rapid prototyping activities (3D printing, CNC machining) by preparing accurate model files.
- Ensure all work complies with Eisco’s internal quality requirements and applicable international standards.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting & Design, Tool & Die Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 2+ years of experience in technical drafting and/or tooling design within a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience operating CNC machinery (routing, milling, or equivalent) in a production or workshop setting.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in SolidWorks — solid and surface modelling, drawings, and configurations.
- Working knowledge of PLM/PDM systems for drawing and revision management (required, not optional).
- Competency in GD&T, and understanding of machining, tooling, and forming processes.
- Proficiency in metrology techniques and measurement equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Familiarity with glassware manufacturing processes is an advantage.
Attributes
- Comfortable operating independently on the shop floor as well as within a design environment.
- High attention to detail and commitment to dimensional accuracy.
- Practical problem-solver who can bridge design intent and manufacturing reality.
- Collaborative, with the ability to work across engineering, production, and procurement teams.
What We Offer
- Ownership of a critical and visible technical function within a growing, globally-minded organisation.
- Exposure to international product standards and diverse manufacturing technologies.
- A collaborative, hands-on environment with genuine scope for career growth.
- Opportunity to contribute to innovative engineering projects in scientific and educational equipment.
