ESTIMATION ENGINEER / QUANTITY SURVEYOR
JOB DESCRIPTION
ROLE OVERVIEW:
A Quantity Surveyor is a cost and contract management expert who ensures construction projects are completed within budget, on time, and to the required quality standards. They act as financial guardians from project inception to completion.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
Reviewing architectural plans and drawings to determine project scope and requirements.
Preparing detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and other expenses.
Developing cost plans and budgets to monitor and control expenditures.
Advising Project Managers/Managements on cost-effective options for materials and construction methods.
Tendering and Procurement:
Preparing tender documents, including bills of quantities (BOQs), which list all materials, parts & labor need.
Evaluating bids from contractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and quality.
Negotiating contracts and terms with contractors and suppliers.
Contract Administration:
Drafting, reviewing, and administering contracts to ensure all parties meet their obligations.
Managing variations and changes to the project scope and adjusting budget projections accordingly.
Resolving disputes and claims related to project delays, cost overruns, or other issues.
Financial Reporting and Control:
Tracking project expenses against the budget and identifying cost overruns.
Assessing the value of completed work and certifying payments to contractors.
Generating regular financial reports to keep clients informed of budget status.
Conducting feasibility studies and value engineering exercises.
Risk Management:
Identifying and managing financial risks associated with construction projects, such as material price fluctuations or regulatory changes.
Developing risk mitigation strategies to minimize potential impacts.
Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and environmental standards.
Skills and qualifications
To succeed as a quantity surveyor, a combination of technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills is needed.
Educational background:
A bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, construction management, or a related field (e.g., civil engineering/Mechanical Engineering) is typically required.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
