Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to manage the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of our travel agency. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, handling client and supplier transactions, reconciliations, invoicing, and supporting the management with financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Maintain daily accounting records and ensure all transactions are properly recorded.
- Handle accounts payable and receivable.
- Record sales, purchases, expenses, receipts, payments, and journal entries.
- Maintain accurate customer and supplier ledgers.
- Prepare and issue invoices to clients.
- Track outstanding payments and follow up on receivables.
2. Travel Industry Accounting
- Reconcile airline, hotel, tour package, visa, insurance, and other travel-related transactions.
- Maintain records of airline and GDS payments, refunds, cancellations, and credit notes.
- Verify supplier invoices against bookings and vouchers.
- Track commissions, mark-ups, service charges, and supplier payouts.
- Maintain client-wise and booking-wise profitability records.
- Handle refunds and adjustments accurately.
3. Bank & Ledger Reconciliation
- Perform regular bank reconciliations.
- Reconcile customer and supplier accounts.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in transactions.
- Monitor cash flow and daily banking transactions.
4. GST & Tax Compliance
- Maintain records required for GST, TDS, and other statutory compliances.
- Assist in preparing GST returns and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with the CA/tax consultant for tax filings and audits.
- Ensure proper documentation and accounting treatment of travel-related transactions.
5. Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports.
- Provide management with reports on:
- Sales and revenue
- Outstanding receivables
- Supplier payables
- Expenses
- Profitability
- Cash flow
- Assist management in budgeting and financial planning.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance (B.Com preferred).
- 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience; travel agency experience is preferred.
- Good knowledge of Tally/ERP/accounting software.
- Strong knowledge of MS Excel.
- Good understanding of GST and basic taxation.
- Experience with bank and ledger reconciliation.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple transactions and deadlines.
