We are looking for a Die Setter (specialized technician) who will be responsible for installing, aligning, adjusting, and maintaining heavy-duty stamping, forging, or casting dies on industrial presses. They ensure that metal components—such as wheel rims, axle parts, carriage panels, or bogie components—are manufactured to precise technical specifications.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Die Installation and Removal: Safely install and remove large, heavy dies from presses, utilizing overhead cranes, die loaders, or forklifts.
- Machine Setup and Calibration: Align and fasten dies (punch and die sets) securely to the press, adjusting the shut height and stroke to meet specific drawing tolerances.
- Trial Runs and First-Piece Inspection: Perform trial stampings or forging, check the first part for accuracy using micrometers, calipers, or gauges, and adjust settings until quality standards are met.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Perform troubleshooting during production to address issues like material tearing, misalignment, or improper bending, and carry out routine maintenance (lubrication, cleaning) on dies to ensure long tool life.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all machinery guards and safety devices (e.g., light curtains, emergency stops) are properly set, adhering to strict safety protocols to prevent accidents.
- Tool Room Collaboration: Coordinate with the tool room for die repair, refurbishment, or modification, and maintain an inventory of spare parts and components. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]
Required Technical Skills
- Mechanical Aptitude: Strong understanding of heavy machinery, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications for railway components.
- Precision Measurement: Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, vernier calipers, slip gauges).
- Heavy Equipment Handling: Knowledge of, and often certification for, overhead cranes and forklifts
Pay: ₹28,000.00 - ₹32,000.00 per month
