Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Professor in Pharmacognosy to join our faculty of pharmacy. The selected candidate will deliver quality instruction in natural product chemistry, herbal drug technology, and traditional medicine systems, conduct original research on bioactive natural compounds, and mentor pharmacy students at undergraduate (B.Pharm) and postgraduate (M.Pharm) levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching & Instruction: Deliver lectures and supervise laboratory practicals for core pharmacognosy courses, including crude drug extraction, phytochemical screening, standardization of herbal formulations, and plant biotechnology.
- Research & Development: Conduct independent research in natural product discovery, isolation and characterization of bioactives, standardization of phytopharmaceuticals, and publish findings in peer-reviewed pharmacy journals.
- Lab Management & Safety: Oversee the pharmacognosy and phytochemistry laboratories, maintain analytical instruments (e.g., Soxhlet apparatus, TLC/HPTLC, UV-Vis spectrophotometers), and enforce safety and biohazard protocols.
- Student Mentorship: Supervise B.Pharm capstone projects and M.Pharm thesis research; provide academic counseling and guidance on career pathways in research, regulatory affairs, or the herbal industry.
- Institutional & Departmental Support: Participate in accreditation processes (e.g., PCI, NAAC, NBA), curriculum development, industry-academia collaborations, and departmental administration.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: First-class Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) and Master’s degree in Pharmacy (M.Pharm) in Pharmacognosy from a recognized university. A Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences / Pharmacognosy is strongly preferred.
- Registration: Mandatory registration as a Registered Pharmacist under the relevant Pharmacy Council (e.g., State Pharmacy Council / PCI).
- Eligibility Exams: GPAT / CSIR-NET qualification is highly desirable.
- Experience: 1–3 years of academic teaching or research/industry experience in phytochemistry or herbal formulations preferred.
- Skills: Hands-on expertise in extraction, separation, and chromatographic techniques (TLC, HPTLC, HPLC); strong knowledge of PCI guidelines; and robust written and verbal communication skills.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
