Sales Executive — Prabal Ply
Territory: Purba Medinipur (East Medinipur)
Position: Sales Executive — Purba Medinipur
Department: Sales & Distribution
Reports To: Regional Manager
Territory: Purba Medinipur (East Medinipur) — all blocks, towns, and rural markets
Working Days: 6 days a week (Monday to Saturday)
Type: Full-Time, Permanent, Field-Based
Compensation: Fixed salary as per industry standards
Role Summary :
This is a pure field role — 6 days a week in the market across Purba Medinipur. The person manages existing Prabal Ply dealers, supports the Regional Manager in appointing new dealers, and drives secondary sales for Prabal Ply by actively engaging carpenters, contractors, interior designers, and furniture OEM makers. Beyond routine dealer servicing, this person is expected to constantly hunt for opportunities — new project sites, new leads, and new contacts — and bring them to the table.
We need a hustler. Someone who doesn’t wait for orders to come in but goes out and creates demand. Every day in the market is a chance to find a new project site, a new carpenter cluster, a new contractor, or a new furniture maker. The person who treats the market as their office and every conversation as a potential lead is who we’re looking for.
Key ResponsibilitiesDealer Management & Primary Sales :
Service and manage the existing dealer network across the territory through regular visits, relationship building, order booking, and payment follow-up.
Ensure dealers maintain adequate stock of the full product range by pushing for both width (all SKUs) and depth (sufficient quantity).
Communicate pricing, schemes, and new product launches to dealers promptly.
Resolve dealer complaints quickly, including quality claims, delivery delays, and damaged goods. Do not let issues linger.
New Dealer Appointment
Identify gaps in dealer coverage across the territory, including uncovered towns, blocks, growing markets, and new commercial areas.
Scout potential dealer candidates, assess their capability, and present them to the Regional Manager.
The Regional Manager leads the dealer appointment process, while the Sales Executive supports by doing the groundwork, market mapping, and follow-through.
Help newly appointed dealers get started through initial stocking, product training, and connecting them with local carpenters and contractors.
Secondary Sales Support
Work alongside the Regional Manager to drive secondary sales and help dealers sell to end customers, not just stock the product.
Regularly visit carpenters across the territory, as they are the primary influencers for plywood brand choice. Build personal relationships, not just transactional visits.
Engage building contractors regarding project requirements such as new constructions, renovations, and commercial fit-outs.
Connect with interior designers and architects, present the product range, provide samples, and get the brand specified in their projects.
Build ongoing relationships with furniture OEM makers, especially small and mid-size furniture manufacturers who consume plywood in bulk.
Organise carpenter meets, product demonstrations, and small events at dealer counters to build brand awareness at the ground level.
Project Site Hunting & Lead Generation
Constantly look for active and upcoming project sites in the territory, including residential projects, commercial buildings, institutional construction, and interior renovation work.
Visit project sites, identify the decision maker — contractor, builder, architect, or owner — and pitch the product directly.
Every day in the market is a lead-generation opportunity. A new building going up, a carpenter working on a big job, or a contractor starting a project should all be treated as potential leads. Capture these leads and follow up consistently.
Share all project leads and large-order opportunities with the Regional Manager for joint follow-up.
Track all leads in daily reporting, including site name, location, contact person, requirement size, status, and next action.
Market Intelligence
Track competitor activity including pricing, new launches, dealer appointments, schemes, and market share shifts.
Report market feedback regarding product quality, pricing perception, and demand trends to the Regional Manager.
Maintain daily sales reporting covering dealer visits, orders booked, secondary sales activities, project sites visited, and new leads identified.
Collections & Commercial Discipline
Follow up on dealer payments and ensure collections are completed on time as per agreed credit terms.
Submit accurate and genuine TA bills and expense reports. All claims must be verifiable.
Required Qualifications :
Graduate in any discipline.
2–5 years of field sales experience in the building materials industry such as plywood, laminates, hardware, paints, tiles, sanitaryware, or similar categories.
Preferably from the plywood industry with an existing understanding of the dealer-carpenter-contractor ecosystem.
Strong working knowledge of the Purba Medinipur market including key towns, market areas, dealer clusters, carpenter hubs, and ongoing construction activity.
Own two-wheeler with valid driving licence, which is essential for daily market coverage.
Comfortable with extensive daily travel across the district, 6 days a week.
Good communication skills in Bengali and Hindi. Basic English knowledge is helpful.
Self-driven and proactive. The person should not need to be told where to go or what to do every day and should independently find opportunities.
Honest and disciplined with accurate reporting, genuine expense claims, and no shortcuts.
