Technical Skills
- Circuit Design & Development: Design circuits to meet HW requirements. Design microprocessor and FPGA based hardware boards. Components Selection and good in selection of the equivalent components. Create, simulate, and debug Power circuits, analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits for electromechanical medical devices.
- Schematic & PCB Layout: Perform schematic capture and work closely with PCB layout engineers; Design for high-speed, and low-power, miniature, or wearable assemblies.
- Tools: High proficiency in Schematics, PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence OrCAD. Etc.
- Microcontrollers/Interfaces: Experience with ARM Cortex, TI, NXP, or STM32 microcontrollers. Deep knowledge of communication protocols: I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, USB, Ethernet. Etc.
- FPGA: Experience in developing boards with FPGAs. Exposure to schematic design using Xilinx / Altera FPGAs. Good understanding regarding the configuration pins and other dedicated pins of FPGA
- Analog/Digital Expertise: Signal conditioning, noise reduction techniques, ADC/DAC interfacing, and power supply design.
- Lab Equipment: Hands-on experience with Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, and Digital Multimeters for troubleshooting.
- SW/HW Interaction : Boot loader , Power management issues , Interface issues ..etc. able to resolve the issues between the Software and hardware platform of the Product.
- Mechanical / HW Interaction : Interact with mechanical engineers, design hardware to meet mechanical constraints
- Technical Support for Vendor Evaluation / Coordination : Support for PCB fabrication and manufacturing alignment
- Medical Standards Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with IEC 60601-1 (General Safety), IEC 60601-1-2 (EMC), and ISO 14971 (Risk Management).
- V&V (Verification & Validation): Develop and execute hardware testing, including board bring-up, functional, electrical safety, and environmental testing.
- Documentation & Quality Systems: Maintain detailed Design History Files (DHF) in compliance with ISO 13485 and FDA design controls (21 CFR 820.30).
- EMI/EMC: Should be aware of EMI/EMC considerations to be taken care in schematic and PCB designs
Job Responsibilities
- Analysing the client's needs, estimating the project tasks, preparing spec & detailed design
- Extract mechanical constraints through discussions with mechanical team and design board accordingly
- Design to meet the size and cost aspirations of client
- Developing / leading embedded hardware designs and testing and deployment of these hardware boards in the embedded platform
o Plan daily activities of the HW team members and provide guidance as needed
o Schematic Design, PCB design support, Board Bringup, Integration & Testing
o Work closely with PCB designers as needed
- Technical ownership of quality hardware deliverables
o Review HW team artefacts
o Plan training to resources as needed
o Root cause analysis and bug fixing
- Use appropriate processes, tools and standards
- Handle technical issues/ problems with customers
- Guide junior team members in their activities
- Work along with other architects/leads (SW, FPGA) to create system architecture and during system integration
- Inter-team communication and coordination
- Identify and Escalate issues as needed
Would be a plus:
- Development of motor driver & debugging the stepper motor & interface details
- Exposure to high-speed interfaces
- Experience in power optimizations
- Experience implementing USB or Ethernet
- Experience developing Hardware for high-end FPGAs and FPGA – SoCs
- Exposure to stepper motor control based designs
Communication
- Good and strong verbal and written communication to involved stakeholders
- Should be able to conduct fruitful discussion with hardware and software team
- Able to discuss hardware technical issues and solutions with customer
Preferred qualification
- Bachelor degree in Engineering - Electronics Engineering
- Years of Experience : 6 - 9 Years
