Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Chief Legal Officer (CLO) to lead the legal function of our real estate organization. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in real estate laws, land acquisition, title due diligence, litigation management, regulatory compliance, contract management, and corporate legal affairs. The CLO will provide strategic legal guidance to the management while ensuring the company's operations comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the organization's legal and compliance functions.
- Conduct legal due diligence for land acquisitions and development projects.
- Verify land titles, ownership documents, and property-related legal records.
- Draft, review, and negotiate agreements including Development Agreements, Joint Development Agreements (JDA), Sale Deeds, Lease Deeds, MOUs, and Vendor Contracts.
- Manage litigation related to land, property, commercial disputes, and civil matters.
- Coordinate with advocates, solicitors, legal consultants, and government authorities.
- Ensure compliance with RERA, MOFA, Transfer of Property Act, Registration Act, Stamp Duty Act, Companies Act, and other applicable laws.
- Advise management on legal risks and dispute resolution strategies.
- Oversee legal documentation for project approvals and statutory compliances.
- Support liaisoning teams during regulatory approvals and land-related matters.
- Develop legal policies, SOPs, and governance frameworks.
- Monitor changes in real estate laws and advise the organization accordingly.
Required Skills
- Strong expertise in Real Estate and Property Laws.
- In-depth knowledge of RERA, Land Revenue Code, Registration Act, Stamp Duty, MOFA, and Contract Law.
- Experience in land title verification and due diligence.
- Excellent contract drafting, negotiation, and documentation skills.
- Litigation and dispute resolution expertise.
- Strong understanding of corporate governance and legal compliance.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and leadership abilities.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- 15–20+ years of legal experience, with significant exposure to the Real Estate/Construction industry.
- LL.B. is mandatory; LL.M. is preferred.
- Proven experience handling large-scale residential, commercial, and township projects.
- Strong network with legal consultants, government authorities, and regulatory bodies.
- Ability to lead a legal team and provide strategic legal counsel to senior management.
- High standards of integrity, confidentiality, and professional ethics.
Pay: ₹200,000.00 - ₹300,000.00 per month
