Job Purpose
The ITI Turner & Fitter will be responsible for operating lathe machines, carrying out mechanical fitting and assembly work, and ensuring components are manufactured or repaired as per engineering drawings, quality standards, and production requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate conventional lathe machines for turning, facing, boring, drilling, threading, knurling, grooving, taper turning, and other machining operations.
- Read and understand engineering drawings, job cards, dimensions, and work instructions.
- Set up machines, select appropriate tools, set cutting parameters, and perform machining as per required tolerances.
- Carry out fitting, assembly, alignment, and installation of mechanical components, fixtures, jigs, and machine parts.
- Perform drilling, tapping, grinding, cutting, filing, deburring, and polishing work as required.
- Use measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, thread gauges, and measuring tapes.
- Inspect finished components and ensure dimensions and quality meet drawing specifications.
- Identify defects, machine issues, tool wear, and material problems and report them to the supervisor.
- Carry out basic preventive maintenance of machines, tools, and equipment.
- Maintain proper housekeeping, tool control, and 5S practices in the work area.
- Follow all safety procedures, including the use of PPE, while operating machines and handling materials.
- Achieve daily production targets without compromising quality and safety.
- Maintain production records, inspection reports, and job completion details.
- Support breakdown maintenance and repair work whenever required.
Qualification
- ITI in Turner / Fitter trade from a recognized institute.
- NCVT or SCVT certification preferred.
Experience
- Fresher or 1–5 years of experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, machining, or maintenance environment.
- Experience in sheet metal, precision components, machine shop, or industrial manufacturing will be an added advantage.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of conventional lathe machine operations.
- Knowledge of fitting, assembly, drilling, tapping, grinding, and alignment work.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand tolerances.
- Knowledge of measuring instruments and inspection methods.
- Basic understanding of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, coolant, and machining parameters.
- Good attention to quality, safety, and workmanship.
- Ability to work in shifts and meet production targets.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in CNC turning, turret lathe, capstan lathe, or VMC machine operation.
- Knowledge of welding and fabrication work.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
Salary
Salary will be based on qualification, skills, and relevant experience.
Pay: ₹19,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
