Job Summary
The Dialysis Technician is responsible for providing safe, efficient, and high-quality dialysis treatment to patients with acute and chronic kidney disease. The technician prepares dialysis machines, monitors patients during treatment, maintains infection control standards, ensures equipment functionality, and supports nephrologists and nursing staff in delivering quality patient care.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
- Prepare dialysis machines and equipment before each treatment session.
- Verify patient identity, treatment prescription, and pre-dialysis assessment.
- Prepare patients for dialysis by checking vital signs, body weight, vascular access, and overall condition.
- Perform hemodialysis procedures as per the nephrologist's prescription and hospital protocols.
- Monitor patients throughout dialysis for vital signs and treatment parameters.
- Recognize and promptly report complications such as hypotension, hypertension, bleeding, cramps, allergic reactions, and vascular access issues.
- Assist in emergency situations, including Code Blue and cardiac arrest.
- Disconnect patients safely after treatment and provide post-dialysis care instructions.
- Ensure patient comfort, dignity, and safety throughout the treatment.
Equipment & Machine Maintenance
- Perform daily inspection, cleaning, disinfection, and calibration of dialysis machines.
- Conduct pre-use safety checks and ensure machines are functioning correctly.
- Maintain the Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment system and report any abnormalities.
- Coordinate with the Biomedical Engineering department for preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain adequate stock of dialysis consumables and supplies.
Infection Control & Safety
- Follow strict aseptic techniques during all procedures.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control protocols.
- Ensure proper biomedical waste segregation and disposal.
- Comply with universal precautions and PPE guidelines.
- Follow NABH, dialysis safety, and quality standards.
Documentation
- Maintain accurate dialysis treatment records.
- Record pre-, intra-, and post-dialysis observations.
- Document machine parameters, complications, interventions, and patient responses.
- Maintain equipment maintenance and disinfection logs.
- Report incidents, adverse events, and machine failures as per hospital policy.
Patient Education
- Educate patients and caregivers regarding:
- Dialysis procedures
- Vascular access care
- Fluid restrictions
- Dietary precautions
- Medication compliance
- Infection prevention measures
Qualification
- B.Sc. in Dialysis Technology / Renal Dialysis Technology / Allied Health Sciences or
- Diploma in Dialysis Technology from a recognized institute.
Experience
- 0–2 years: Junior Dialysis Technician.
- 2–5 years: Experience in a multi-specialty hospital or dedicated dialysis center preferred.
- Experience in handling emergency dialysis and ICU dialysis will be an added advantage.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of renal physiology and dialysis principles.
- Proficiency in operating dialysis machines and RO systems.
- Ability to identify and manage dialysis-related complications.
- Strong infection control practices.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS certification preferred.
- Good communication, interpersonal, and patient counseling skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively in emergencies.

Working Conditions
- Rotational shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- On-call duties for emergency dialysis services.
- Exposure to blood and body fluids; adherence to PPE and infection control protocols is mandatory.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
