About the Role
Sumanam Engineering Services Consultants is seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the design and execution of electrical systems for commercial, residential, hospitality, healthcare, industrial, and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise, project coordination skills, and the ability to independently manage complex design assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, earthing, lightning protection, and associated building services.
- Prepare electrical layouts, single-line diagrams (SLDs), schematics, and detailed engineering drawings, BOQ and estimates
- Perform electrical load calculations, voltage drop analysis, short-circuit studies, and equipment sizing/selection.
- Ensure compliance with applicable local and international standards, including IEC, NEC, IS Codes, and authority regulations.
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, MEP disciplines, clients, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare technical specifications, BOQs, design reports, and tender documentation.
- Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, and material approvals.
- Conduct site visits, technical inspections, troubleshooting, and resolve design-related issues.
- Lead project teams and mentor junior engineers and designers.
- Ensure timely delivery of projects while maintaining quality and technical excellence.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical design consultancy for building and infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in commercial buildings, IT parks, residential developments, hospitals, hotels, and mixed-use developments.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and electrical design software.
- Strong knowledge of electrical load calculations, circuit design, lighting systems, power distribution, and backup power systems.
- Thorough understanding of NEC, IEC, IS Codes, and relevant authority requirements.
- Certifications in electrical design, power systems, energy management, or related fields will be an added advantage.
