The Packing Supervisor is responsible for planning, supervising, and coordinating all packaging operations to ensure products are packed accurately, safely, and efficiently according to company quality standards and customer requirements. The role focuses on achieving daily production targets, maintaining product quality, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and leading the packing team to maximize productivity.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction & Packing Operations
- Supervise daily packing activities to ensure timely completion of production schedules.
- Allocate manpower and resources efficiently to meet packing targets.
- Ensure products are packed according to approved specifications, customer requirements, and export standards.
- Monitor packing line performance and resolve operational issues promptly.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality Assurance, Warehouse, and Dispatch teams to ensure smooth workflow.
Quality Control
- Ensure correct packaging materials, labels, barcodes, batch numbers, and expiry dates are used.
- Verify finished products meet quality standards before dispatch.
- Minimize packaging errors, product damage, and customer complaints.
- Implement corrective actions for packing defects and non-conformities.
Team Management
- Supervise, train, and motivate packing operators and helpers.
- Prepare daily work schedules and shift allocations.
- Monitor employee attendance, productivity, and discipline.
- Conduct on-the-job training on packing procedures and safety practices.
Inventory & Material Control
- Monitor packaging material consumption and minimize wastage.
- Coordinate with Stores for timely availability of cartons, labels, pallets, films, and other packing materials.
- Maintain proper stock records of packaging materials.
- Ensure accurate packing counts and documentation.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Enforce proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe packing area.
- Report safety hazards and participate in safety improvement initiatives.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain daily packing production reports.
- Record packing efficiency, downtime, rejects, and wastage.
- Prepare shift handover reports.
- Maintain packing records for traceability and audits.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve packing efficiency and reduce costs.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Recommend improvements in packaging methods and workflow.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Production, Industrial Engineering, Packaging Technology, Food Technology, Logistics, or a related field.
- High school qualification with relevant supervisory experience may also be considered.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in packing or production operations.
- At least 1–2 years in a supervisory role in a manufacturing or export industry.
- Experience in automated or semi-automated packing lines is preferred.
