Senior Interior Designer
Experience: 8–12 Years
Qualification: Degree / Diploma in Interior Design or Architecture (COA Registered)
About the Role
We are looking for a senior design professional to independently lead interior design projects within a structured design-build environment. You will take ownership of projects from concept refinement through to detailed development and documentation — ensuring that approved design intent transitions into technically sound, spatially coherent, and execution-ready solutions.
You will work closely with the Director of Operations and the Senior Project Leader, managing design progression across layout refinement, material detailing, consultant coordination, documentation clarity, visualization direction, and client presentations. The role demands a balance between creative articulation and buildable practicality.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Leadership
- Lead assigned interior projects through structured design progression
- Manage project design timelines and internal design reviews
- Coordinate with operations on milestone planning
- Maintain design freeze discipline and prevent uncontrolled scope drift
2. Spatial Planning & Layout Development
- Develop functional and aesthetically aligned spatial layouts responding to client briefs
- Refine zoning, adjacency logic, and service coordination
- Validate furniture planning feasibility and spatial proportions
- Identify layout conflicts before documentation begins
3. Technical Design Development
- Translate approved concepts into technically robust interior detailing
- Develop joinery detailing strategies and align ceiling and service integration
- Coordinate material transitions and review constructability of detailing
4. Documentation Oversight
- Ensure drawing packages are complete, accurate, coordinated, and execution-ready
- Review GFC sets for clarity and validate dimensions and detailing logic
- Maintain documentation discipline within the team
5. Consultant Coordination
- Coordinate with MEP and allied consultants for seamless service integration
- Identify service clashes early and schedule coordination discussions
- Ensure consultant inputs are reflected in design revisions
6. Visualization Direction
- Guide 3D visualizers to ensure render outputs accurately reflect approved design intent
- Review 3D models for spatial accuracy and validate material realism
- Align rendered outputs with documentation
7. Client Engagement
- Present design concepts confidently and manage client feedback constructively
- Document approvals formally and prevent reactive redesign loops
8. Design Quality & Integrity
- Maintain consistency of approved design intent through all development stages
- Review material samples and monitor detailing consistency
- Flag deviations and escalate high-impact concerns to the Design Director
9. Risk Identification
- Identify project-level design risks affecting feasibility, cost, or timeline
- Assess material lead-time implications and flag detailing complexity concerns
10. Team Mentorship
- Elevate the performance of architects and interior designers within project teams
- Conduct drawing reviews and provide structured, constructive feedback
- Build independent design capability and improve presentation maturity
Required Skills & Competencies
- Advanced spatial planning and interior detailing capability
- Strong understanding of interior construction practices and buildability
- Material knowledge and application intelligence
- Consultant coordination and service integration awareness
- Documentation discipline and drawing clarity standards
- Leadership, decision-making, and project ownership maturity
- Client presentation confidence and stakeholder management ability
- Structured design thinking with practical execution awareness
- Strong communication and coordination skills
