Job Title: Assistant Restaurant Manager
Job Summary
The Assistant Restaurant Manager supports the Restaurant Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring excellent customer service, managing staff, and maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and profitability. This role acts as a bridge between front-line staff and management.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperations Management
- Assist in managing day-to-day restaurant operations
- Ensure smooth service during all shifts
- Monitor food quality, presentation, and service standards
- Handle customer complaints and resolve issues promptly
Staff Supervision
- Support hiring, onboarding, and training of staff
- Supervise team members and ensure adherence to company policies
- Prepare staff schedules and manage shift coverage
- Motivate employees to deliver excellent performance
Customer Service
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
- Greet and interact with guests when needed
- Handle escalated customer concerns professionally
Financial & Inventory Control
- Assist in managing budgets, costs, and expenses
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate stock orders
- Reduce wastage and control food/labor costs
Compliance & Hygiene
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the restaurant
- Follow local food safety regulations
Reporting
- Prepare daily/weekly operational reports
- Assist in analyzing sales performance and suggesting improvements
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in hospitality or restaurant management
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of POS systems and restaurant software
Education & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or related field (preferred)
- 2–5 years of experience in the restaurant industry
- Prior supervisory experience is an advantage
