Job Summary
We are looking for a QC Engineer for our Machine Shop Department who will be responsible for ensuring the quality of machined components by conducting inspections, maintaining quality standards, identifying defects, and coordinating with the production team for corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect machined components as per drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Perform in-process, first-piece, and final inspection of components.
- Check dimensions using measuring instruments such as:
- Vernier Caliper
- Micrometer
- Height Gauge
- Bore Gauge
- Dial Gauge
- Thread Gauges
- Go/No-Go Gauges
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and specifications.
- Inspect components manufactured through CNC, VMC, conventional machining, drilling, milling, turning, and other machine shop processes.
- Prepare and maintain inspection reports and quality records.
- Identify dimensional, machining, surface-finish, and other quality defects.
- Ensure compliance with approved drawings and customer quality requirements.
- Coordinate with Production and Machine Shop teams to resolve quality issues.
- Conduct root-cause analysis for recurring quality problems and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Monitor rejection, rework, and rejection trends and support reduction of quality losses.
- Maintain calibration status of measuring and inspection equipment.
- Ensure proper identification and segregation of rejected/non-conforming components.
- Support preparation of NCR, CAPA, inspection reports, and other quality documentation.
- Maintain inspection standards and follow company quality procedures.
- Participate in internal quality audits and continuous improvement activities.
- Ensure proper housekeeping and adherence to safety and quality procedures in the machine shop.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Machine Shop Quality Control.
- Good knowledge of CNC/VMC machining processes.
- Ability to read and understand 2D engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of dimensional inspection and surface-finish requirements.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of 5 Why, Fishbone, CAPA, NCR, and Root Cause Analysis is preferred.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel and quality documentation.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in a machine manufacturing / engineering manufacturing / Machining industry.
- Experience in inspection of CNC/VMC machined components.
- Experience working with production and quality teams in a machine shop environment.
