An Audiologist is a healthcare professional who specializes in identifying, diagnosing, and treating hearing and balance disorders in patients of all age groups. The role includes conducting hearing assessments, fitting hearing aids, counseling patients, and providing rehabilitation services to improve communication and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct hearing evaluations and diagnostic audiological tests
- Perform Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA), Tympanometry, BERA, OAE, and Speech Audiometry tests
- Diagnose hearing and balance disorders
- Recommend and fit hearing aids according to patient needs
- Program, adjust, and troubleshoot hearing aids
- Provide hearing rehabilitation and counseling to patients and families
- Educate patients about hearing protection and ear care
- Maintain patient records and clinical documentation
- Coordinate with ENT specialists and healthcare professionals
- Handle follow-up appointments and patient satisfaction services
Required Qualifications
- BASLP / MASLP degree from a recognized institution
- Valid RCI registration (if applicable in India)
- Knowledge of hearing aid technology and audiology equipment
- Good communication and counseling skills
- Computer knowledge and report preparation skills
