Job Title: Mechanisation Technician
Job Purpose:
To maintain, repair, inspect, and operate mechanical machinery and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation with minimum downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, service, maintain, and repair mechanised equipment and machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out necessary repairs.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Maintain engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, pumps, and other mechanical components.
- Conduct regular equipment inspections and identify potential problems before breakdowns occur.
- Install, adjust, and test mechanical components and machinery.
- Use workshop tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic equipment safely.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, spare parts, and equipment usage.
- Ensure machinery complies with operational and safety requirements.
- Assist with equipment installation, commissioning, and modifications.
- Liaise with operators and supervisors to identify equipment problems.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop and working environment.
- Follow company procedures, technical manuals, and occupational health and safety regulations.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, engines, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read technical drawings and equipment manuals.
- Good practical and hands-on mechanical skills.
- Basic knowledge of electrical and electronic systems.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
Typical Qualifications
- Diploma, certificate, or trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Mechanisation, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, or a related field.
- Relevant practical/workshop experience is advantageous.
- Appropriate machinery or equipment operating certifications may be required depending on the workplace.
