About the Role
An experienced Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer is required for Extra High Voltage Transmission Line projects (220kV and above). The selected candidate will be responsible for implementing and monitoring safety systems at the project site to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, safety policies, and industry best practices. The role will focus on maintaining a safe working environment during civil foundation works, tower erection, and conductor stringing activities along the transmission line route.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safety Management
Implement project EHS plans, safety procedures, and safety management systems at the site.
Ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations and project-specific safety requirements.
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits at tower foundation, erection, and stringing locations.
2. Site Safety Supervision
Monitor safety practices during excavation, reinforcement work, concreting, tower erection, and stringing activities.
Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all workers and contractors.
Identify unsafe conditions and implement immediate corrective actions.
3. Risk Assessment & Permit System
Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and risk assessments for critical site activities.
Implement and monitor work permit systems for high-risk activities such as working at height and stringing operations.
Ensure safety measures are followed for crane operations, lifting activities, and working at heights.
4. Training & Awareness
Conduct safety induction programs for workers and site staff.
Organize toolbox talks and regular safety awareness sessions.
Promote a strong safety culture across all project activities.
5. Incident Management
Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe occurrences.
Prepare incident investigation reports and recommend preventive measures.
Ensure proper reporting and documentation of safety incidents.
6. Documentation & Compliance
Maintain all EHS documentation including safety inspection reports, training records, and compliance registers.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports for project management.
Support audits conducted by client representatives and regulatory authorities.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Engineering (or related discipline).
Certification: Diploma / Certification in Industrial Safety, Construction Safety, or EHS Management.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in EHS management for transmission line projects (220kV, 400kV, or higher).
Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction safety standards and statutory regulations.
Preferred Experience
Prior experience working on transmission line projects for utilities, EPC contractors, or large infrastructure projects.
Familiarity with safety practices for tower erection, conductor stringing, and heavy lifting activities.
Experience in managing safety requirements for large linear infrastructure projects.
