About Sense International India
Sense International India (Sense India) is the only national-level organisation in India dedicated to supporting children and adults with deafblindness and multiple disabilities. Established in 1997, we work across 25+ states through a network of 69 partner organisations and have impacted the lives of more than 84,000 people.
Our vision is a world where every person with deafblindness can be a full and active member of society. We work on early intervention, education, livelihood, capacity building of partners, and advocacy (including the recognition of deafblindness in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016).
Role Overview
We are looking for a motivated Fundraising and Research Intern to support our Public Engagement / Resource Mobilisation team. The intern will assist in donor research, proposal support, data analysis, and research that strengthens our fundraising efforts with corporates (CSR), foundations, trusts, and individual donors.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about the social sector who wants hands-on exposure to fundraising in a national-level disability organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on potential donors – CSR companies, foundations, trusts, high-net-worth individuals, and grant opportunities aligned with Sense India’s work.
- Support preparation of concept notes, proposals, donor reports, and impact documents.
- Maintain and update donor research databases / tracking sheets.
- Research funding trends, competitor analysis, and best practices in disability and development sector fundraising.
- Assist in preparing presentations, pitch decks, and background notes for donor meetings.
- Support the team with secondary research for campaigns, events, and resource mobilisation initiatives.
- Help compile data and case studies for proposals and reports.
- Any other related tasks assigned by the fundraising / public engagement team.
Eligibility & Requirements
Essential:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Social Work, Development Studies, Business Administration, Communications, Public Policy, or related fields.
- Strong research, analytical, and written communication skills (excellent English).
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and online research tools.
- Genuine interest in the disability sector / social impact work.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Good interpersonal skills and willingness to learn.
Desirable:
- Prior internship or volunteer experience in NGOs, fundraising, CSR, or research.
- Familiarity with CSR rules, FCRA, or grant writing.
- Basic knowledge of data visualisation or Canva.
