Reports To: Restaurant Manager / Floor Supervisor
Job Summary
The Restaurant Cashier is responsible for managing all cash, credit, and digital transactions with accuracy and efficiency. As often the final point of contact for guests, this role is vital in ensuring a positive departure experience through friendly service, quick problem-solving, and meticulous financial handling.
Key Responsibilities
- Transaction Management: Process guest checks accurately using the Point of Sale (POS) system. Handle cash, credit/debit cards, and mobile payments.
- Customer Service: Greet guests warmly upon arrival or departure. Address guest inquiries regarding the menu, pricing, and current promotions.
- Financial Integrity: Maintain a balanced cash drawer throughout the shift. Perform opening and closing procedures, including counting float and preparing bank deposits.
- Order Accuracy: Verify orders with the kitchen or serving staff to ensure guests are billed correctly for their items.
- Issue Resolution: Handle refunds, discounts, and guest complaints with professionalism, escalating to management when necessary.
- Administrative Support: Assist with answering phone calls, managing takeout/delivery orders, and maintaining a clean and organized workstation.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience in a cashiering, retail, or hospitality role is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with POS software (e.g., Petpooja, Shawmans, or similar) and basic computer literacy.
- Mathematical Aptitude: Strong ability to perform quick mental calculations and manage currency accurately.
- Communication: Fluent in the local language and English; ability to communicate clearly and politely under pressure.
