Job Summary
The Staff Nurse will be responsible for providing primary medical care and first aid to students and staff within the school premises. The role involves managing the school infirmary, maintaining health records, responding to medical emergencies, and ensuring a safe and healthy environment in accordance with school policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Medical Care & First Aid
- Provide first aid and basic medical care to students and staff in case of illness or injury during school hours.
- Assess health conditions and decide when further medical attention or referral to a hospital is required.
- Monitor students who are unwell in the infirmary until they recover or are taken home.
- Infirmary Management
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the school infirmary.
- Ensure adequate stock of medicines, medical supplies, and first aid equipment.
- Health Records Maintenance
- Maintain accurate medical records of students and staff visits to the infirmary.
- Record daily treatments, medications administered, and health incidents.
- Medication Administration
- Administer prescribed medications to students when required and with proper authorization.
- Ensure safe storage and handling of medicines.
- Emergency Response
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies occurring within the school campus.
- Coordinate with school authorities and parents during health-related emergencies.
- Health Awareness & Preventive Care
- Promote health awareness and hygiene practices among students and staff.
- Assist in organizing health check-ups, vaccination drives, and wellness programs when required.
- Communication
- Inform parents/guardians about students’ health issues when necessary.
- Coordinate with teachers, wardens, and administration regarding student health concerns.
- Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all medical practices follow school policies and safety guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality of medical records.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma or B.Sc. in Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Valid Nursing Registration / License.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience, preferably in a school, hospital, or healthcare facility.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR preferred.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle medical emergencies calmly and efficiently.
