The Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and improving aerial work platforms and lifting equipment, including Scissor Lift and Knuckle Boom Crane. The role involves creating 3D models, detailed engineering drawings, and supporting product development from concept to production while ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities1. Product Design & Development
- Design and develop new models of scissor lifts and boom cranes.
- Create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using CAD software.
- Develop mechanical structures including boom arms, scissor mechanisms, platforms, and chassis.
2. Engineering Calculations & Analysis
- Perform structural calculations, load analysis, and stress analysis.
- Ensure equipment stability, safety, and load capacity.
- Validate designs through simulation and testing.
3. CAD Modeling & Documentation
- Prepare 2D manufacturing drawings, GD&T, and detailed BOMs.
- Maintain design documentation including design standards and engineering change notes (ECN).
- Ensure designs meet manufacturing and assembly requirements.
4. Prototype Development
- Support prototype development and testing.
- Work with the production team to resolve design-related manufacturing issues.
- Participate in product trials and validation testing.
5. Design Improvements
- Analyze existing products and implement design improvements for performance, cost, and manufacturability.
- Optimize designs for weight reduction and cost efficiency.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with production, quality, procurement, and service teams.
- Provide technical support during manufacturing and product assembly.
7. Compliance & Safety
- Ensure designs comply with safety standards and engineering regulations.
- Incorporate safety features in lifting equipment and platforms.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 2–6 years of experience in heavy equipment, crane, aerial platform, or material handling equipment design
Required SkillsTechnical Skills
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or similar)
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems and lifting mechanisms
- Understanding of structural design and fabrication processes
