Role Overview Head of Engineering
Head Of Engineering is responsible for leading and scaling the engineering organization, driving technical strategy, ensuring high-quality product delivery, and building a high-performing engineering team. The role requires a balance of technical leadership, people management, and strategic execution to support the companys product and business goals.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and scale multiple engineering teams including Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, and Developers.
- Establish engineering best practices, development standards, and operational excellence.
- Drive a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Technology Strategy
- Define and execute the technology roadmap aligned with business objectives.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies, frameworks, and tools.
- Ensure systems are scalable, reliable, secure, and high performing.
Delivery & Execution
- Oversee the end-to-end software development lifecycle (design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance).
- Ensure timely delivery of engineering projects with high quality.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Data, and Business teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
People Management
- Hire, develop, and retain top engineering talent.
- Build strong leadership pipelines within the engineering organization.
- Conduct performance management, coaching, and career development.
Operational Excellence
- Establish engineering metrics such as velocity, reliability, uptime, quality, and productivity.
- Drive improvements in DevOps, CI/CD, and automation.
- Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and coding standards.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with executive leadership to align technology initiatives with company strategy.
- Communicate technical vision, progress, and risks to leadership.
- Partner with HR and Talent Acquisition on engineering hiring strategies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 1215+ years of experience in software engineering(Java fullstack / Golang) with 57 years in leadership roles.
- Proven experience managing large engineering teams and multiple engineering managers.
- Strong backend development expertise.
- Strong experience in system architecture, distributed systems, and scalable platforms.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern development practices.
