Job Purpose: The Chemist/Junior Executive (R&QA) is responsible for conducting laboratory tests using appropriate equipment and instruments. The role requires familiarity with testing methods, procedures, and general concepts related to petroleum products, particularly in the manufacturing and testing of synthetic esters, lubricants and greases. The Chemist will follow established instructions and guidelines to carry out laboratory functions effectively, while adhering to all relevant safety practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform sampling and laboratory testing for lubricants and esters. Testing of samples from blending, esterification, and other chemical processes using appropriate test methods, laboratory techniques and instruments.
- Test raw materials and packaging materials in accordance with applicable standards.
- Conduct sampling of products received from internal or external sources as per relevant specifications and maintain proper records.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in testing procedures and specifications.
- Record the test results of raw material, packing materials, in-process inspection and finished product in the register and maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all test results, reports, COAs, and relevant documentation. Issue the COA/COC to customers.
- Responsible to prepare & maintain all blending log sheets.
- Ensure data integrity and maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the laboratory, including all equipment and instruments.
- Assist in the timely calibration, maintenance, and upkeep of laboratory instruments.
- Monitor and maintain adequate stock of laboratory chemicals and consumables.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce safe handling and storage practices for all chemicals and laboratory items.
- Conduct product inspections in coordination with external agencies such as DGAQA, SQAE, RITES, etc. and preparation of test reports and assist in the preparation of inspection document.
- Assist in the preparation of inspection notes and release notes issued by external agencies. Review/ verification and correction of Rate Contract, Supply Orders, QA documents.
- Assist in the preparation all QMS/NABL/R&D/audit related documents.
- Coordinate with production and logistics departments for in-process inspections, including labelling, stencilling, and packing.
- Lead and execute special projects or assignments as designated by the company.
- Perform any additional tasks or duties assigned by the VP (R&QA/TS) as per requirement, which may not be listed in this document.
Qualifications, Experience & Competencies Required:
- B.Sc. / M.Sc. (Chemistry) / B.E. / Diploma in (Chemical Engineering), preferably with experience in a petroleum testing laboratory.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience with a proven record of delivering results.
- Ability to follow laboratory processes, procedures, and safety Guidelines.
- Good communication skills to communicate effectively with internal / external Stakeholders.
