Finance And Risk Lead
REPORTS TO : COO / VP, Operations
About the Role:
We are looking for a Finance & Risk Lead who can build and own the financial foundation of of a wellness company as they scale.
This is not a role where you simply step into an established finance function and manage what already exists. We are looking for someone who has built or significantly shaped finance processes and structures in a growing organisation and is comfortable creating the right systems, processes and controls from the ground up.
The person will work closely with the leadership team and become a trusted advisor on financial decisions, cost optimisation, resource utilisation, business risks and financial governance.
We are looking for someone who can look at the organisation holistically, understand where our money is going, identify where we can do better, and proactively tell us what we should change.
What You Will Own:
Build the Finance Function
- Set up and strengthen the finance structure, processes and systems required as NewME grows.
- Establish the right financial controls, approval mechanisms, reporting processes and documentation.
- Create simple and effective ways for leadership to have visibility into the organisation's financial position.
- Build processes that can scale with the organisation rather than creating unnecessary complexity.
Own Payroll & People Costs
- Design and manage the overall payroll structure and processes, including payslip structure and related
financial controls.
- Ensure payroll is accurate, timely and appropriately structured.
- Work with HR and leadership on compensation-related financial planning.
- Track employee costs and provide visibility on the overall people-cost structure.
Track & Optimise Spend
- Own visibility into organisational spending across functions.
- Track where money is being spent and identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary costs and improve efficiency.
- Review vendor costs, recurring expenses and major commitments.
- Recommend where we can optimise, renegotiate, restructure or eliminate spend.
- Help leadership make informed decisions on how best to utilise available resources.
Financial Planning & Business Advisory
- Build budgets, forecasts and financial plans as the organisation grows.
- Provide leadership with a clear understanding of cash position, commitments, expenses and future requirements.
- Evaluate the financial implications of new initiatives, investments, hiring plans and business decisions.
- Develop scenarios and provide practical recommendations to leadership.
- Bring an owner's mindset to financial decisions — not just report what happened, but advise on what we should do next.
Risk, Policies & Governance
- Identify financial, operational and business risks that could impact NewME.
- Review business arrangements, contracts, policies and processes from a financial and risk perspective.
- Highlight potential exposure and recommend practical ways to protect the organisation.
- Work with external experts, including auditors, tax advisors or legal counsel, wherever specialised
support is required.
- Help establish appropriate policies and governance mechanisms as NewME scales.
What We Are Looking For?
We are looking for someone who has built things, not just managed them.

You should be someone who:
- Has a strong foundation in Finance, Accounting and/or Audit.
- Has a deep understanding of P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, expenses and financial controls.
- Has experience setting up finance processes and structures from scratch or significantly improving an existing function.
- Has strong experience with payroll and employee-cost management.
- Can analyse spending and identify meaningful cost optimisation opportunities.
- Is comfortable building budgets, forecasts and financial models.
- Can look beyond the numbers and understand the business implications behind them.
- Has good knowledge of business risk, contracts, policies and compliance.
- Can work with external auditors, tax consultants and legal advisors when required.
- Is comfortable working in an environment where processes are still being built and not everything is already defined.
- Is hands-on, entrepreneurial and willing to take ownership rather than operate within a narrow functional boundary.
The Person We Are Looking For:-
This role would suit someone who has worked in a start-up, scale-up or rapidly growing organisation and has had the opportunity to build the finance function rather than simply inherit one.
You should be the kind of person who can come in and say:
“This is what we have today. This is what we need to build. This is where we are spending too much. This is where the risk is. And this is what I recommend we do.”
You will be expected to build, own, question, advise and improve — not simply report.
