Description:
The position leads the planning, design, development, and lifecycle management of mechanical systems and equipment supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. The role applies engineering research, design principles, and testing methodologies to develop reliable, compliant, and efficient mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, and utility systems. The incumbent is accountable for mechanical system design, equipment performance, energy use, and asset reliability, ensuring alignment with GMP, regulatory, safety, and quality requirements. The role supports production, transmission, measurement, and efficient use of energy, while enabling technology transfer, scale-up, and continuous improvement. The position ensures engineering robustness, operational readiness, and long-term sustainability of mechanical infrastructure.
Essential Functions:
- Research, plan, and design mechanical systems and equipment for pharmaceutical manufacturing
- Lead engineering design and development of mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, and utility systems
- Oversee equipment design, installation, testing, and operational performance
- Ensure mechanical system reliability, efficiency, and safety during operations
- Apply engineering principles to energy transmission, heat transfer, and fluid systems
- Support technology transfer and scale-up through mechanical readiness
- Manage maintenance planning, failure analysis, and troubleshooting of mechanical assets
- Ensure validation, qualification, and regulatory compliance of mechanical systems
- Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Drive continuous improvement and energy efficiency initiatives
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align engineering with production needs
