Role Descriptions:
EDI Testing & Validation
- Test EDI transactions end to end between source systems, translators, and target applications
- Validate inbound and outbound EDI files for structure, content, and compliance
- Ensure EDI messages conform to required EDI standards and partner specifications
- Verify acknowledgments such as TA1, 999, 997, and 277CA
EDI Standards & Transactions
- Test and validate EDI standards including:
o X12 (e.g., 834, 835, 837, 810, 850, 860)
o EDIFACT (ORDERS, INVOIC, DESADV)
o HL7 (for healthcare systems)
- Validate envelope segments (ISA/GS/ST) and control numbers
Data & Mapping Testing
- Validate field level mappings between:
o Flat files / XML / JSON
o EDI formats
o Backend databases or applications
- Perform data transformation and business rule validation
- Compare EDI data against source systems and downstream applications
Trading Partner Testing
- Coordinate testing activities with external trading partners
- Validate partner specific guidelines and custom rules
- Support onboarding of new trading partners
Tools & Technical Skills
- Work with EDI translators/tools such as:
o IBM Sterling, Gentran, MuleSoft, Seeburger, Cleo, Boomi
- Validate files using EDI viewers and translators
- Execute SQL queries for backend data validation
- Monitor file transmissions via FTP/SFTP/AS2
Defect Management & Documentation
- Create and execute EDI test cases and scenarios
- Identify, log, track, and retest defects using tools like JIRA
- Maintain test execution reports and defect metrics
- Review functional and technical EDI specifications

Required Skills & Qualifications
Must Have Skills
- Strong experience in EDI testing (inbound & outbound)
- Hands on knowledge of X12 / EDIFACT / HL7 standards
- Experience with EDI acknowledgments (997, 999, TA1)
- Good understanding of EDI file structure and segments
- Proficiency in SQL for data validation
- Experience working with EDI translators/tools
Technical Knowledge
- Understanding of FTP / SFTP / AS2 communication
- Knowledge of batch processing and file based integrations
- Familiarity with SDLC / STLC and Agile methodology
