The role is accountable for safety, quality, delivery, productivity (OEE), scrap reduction, manpower management, changeovers/setup discipline, and equipment uptime, while coordinating closely with Maintenance, Tool Room, Quality, Engineering, and Planning.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise stamping operations with strong working knowledge of presses, dies, and stamping setups, ensuring stable running conditions and adherence to work instructions.
- Oversee CNC turning/machining operations, including first-piece / first-off approvals, in-process checks, and daily production control
- Drive cycle time and process parameter optimization (tools, offsets, cutting conditions) to improve productivity and reduce waste.
- Troubleshoot machining issues promptly and coordinate with Maintenance/Engineering to restore stable production
- Ensure operators follow best practices for tooling/inserts/offset handling and maintain accurate production reporting
- Coordinate with technicians to ensure proper setup, inspection, cleaning, maintenance and repair of stamping tools/dies; plan repairs/modifications to minimize downtime.
- Improve setup success rate and reduce changeover time through better procedures, checklists, and training.
- Support equipment and sub-processes commonly present in high-speed stamping environments (e.g., terminal presses/associated sub-process equipment), working with engineering for improvements.
- Deliver shift output vs. plan, ensuring on-time achievement of daily production targets for both processes
- Allocate manpower, manage line balancing, and ensure smooth production flow across machines/workstations.
- Monitor hourly attainment, downtime, scrap, and major variances; escalate constraints and implement corrective actions using structured problem solving.
- Ensure accurate shift handover, including production issues, quality concerns, and equipment status.
- Partner with Quality and Engineering to implement error-proofing, improve uptime/cycle speed, and reduce waste—typical continuous improvement expectations in high-speed stamping operations.
