Job Summary
The Mechanical Fitter is responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting mechanical equipment, machinery, and industrial systems. The role ensures that all mechanical components operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and safety regulations.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstallation & Assembly
- Assemble and install mechanical equipment, machinery, pumps, valves, gearboxes, and piping systems.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Perform alignment, leveling, and fitting of mechanical components.
Maintenance & Repair
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and perform repairs or replacements of defective parts.
- Dismantle, inspect, overhaul, and reassemble machinery as required.
Inspection & Troubleshooting
- Conduct routine inspections to identify wear, damage, and equipment failures.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure equipment operates efficiently with minimum downtime.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) policies and procedures.
- Use appropriate PPE and maintain a safe working environment.
- Ensure work complies with company standards and applicable regulations.
Documentation
- Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, and job completion reports.
- Report equipment issues, breakdowns, and repair status to the supervisor.
- Record spare parts consumption and maintenance activities.
Qualifications
- ITI / Diploma in Fitter, Mechanical Engineering, or related trade.
- Certification in industrial maintenance or mechanical fitting is an advantage.
Experience
- 2 to 5+ years of experience in mechanical fitting, installation, or industrial maintenance.
- Experience in manufacturing, oil & gas, marine, power plants, heavy engineering, or construction industries is preferred.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, and rotating machinery.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and P&IDs.
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Willingness to travel and work at project sites or on rotational shifts.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of welding, fabrication, and alignment techniques.
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices.
- Basic understanding of quality standards and safety regulations.
Pay: ₹15,018.18 - ₹25,404.56 per month
