Skills
Ethics Infotech LLP is developing an all-new EV Truck platform. We are looking for an Automobile Engineer to join the R&D and Automation team as the vehicle architecture and systems integration lead for this program. This role sits at the intersection of the Mechanical team (Designer, Fitter, Welder) and the Electrical team (Electrical Engineer, Electronics Engineer, PCB Designer, Embedded Engineer, Power Electronics Engineer), translating requirements into a coherent vehicle-level design and coordinating execution across both teams.
Job Location: Vadodara
Office Hours: 09:30 am to 7 pm
Working Days: Mon – Sat
Weekly Off: 1st, 3rd & 5th Sat
Experience: 3+ Yrs
Role & Responsibilities
- Define the overall vehicle architecture: layout of motor, battery pack, chassis, and body for the EV truck, balancing payload, range, and cost targets.
- Perform first-pass engineering calculations — motor power/torque sizing, gear ratio selection, battery capacity sizing, gradebility, and top speed — based on payload and range requirements.
- Act as the technical bridge between the Mechanical team (structure, chassis, body) and the Electrical team (powertrain, controls, power electronics), ensuring subsystem designs integrate without conflict.
- Own basic vehicle dynamics considerations: weight distribution, braking system requirements, suspension loading, and axle load calculations for the added battery weight.
- Coordinate with the Power Electronics Engineer on motor controller interfacing and with the Embedded Engineer on vehicle control logic requirements.
- Identify and track applicable Indian regulatory and compliance requirements (AIS/CMVR standards) early in the design process and flag their impact on design decisions.
- Prepare vehicle-level specifications, layout drawings, and design review documentation for stakeholder and management review.
- Support prototype build, testing, and validation phases, working closely with the Mechanical Fitter and Welder during physical build.
- Escalate and coordinate with specialist consultants (battery/BMS, FEA/structural, homologation) where deeper domain expertise is required beyond this role's scope.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of vehicle systems: chassis, powertrain, braking, suspension, and vehicle dynamics fundamentals.
- Working knowledge of EV-specific systems — traction motors, battery packs, motor controllers — at a systems level (deep battery chemistry or power electronics design not required).
- Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks / CATIA / AutoCAD or equivalent) for layout and packaging work.
- Familiarity with Indian automotive regulatory standards (AIS, CMVR) or willingness to quickly build this knowledge.
- Basic exposure to simulation concepts (FEA, vehicle dynamics simulation) — hands-on simulation is a plus but not mandatory for this role.
- Strong cross-functional communication skills to coordinate between mechanical and electrical/electronics teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced R&D environment with evolving requirements.
Good to Have
- Prior experience working on an EV program (two-wheeler, three-wheeler, LCV, or truck) from concept to prototype stage.
- Exposure to ARAI/ICAT testing and certification processes.
- Basic understanding of CAN bus/vehicle networking concepts.
- Experience with GD&T and tolerance stacking for structural/mechanical assemblies.
