Fireman Job Responsibilities
A Fireman (Firefighter / Fire Safety Operator) is responsible for preventing, controlling, and responding to fire emergencies to protect people, property, and equipment.
Main Responsibilities:
- Fire Prevention
- Inspect workplace/building for fire hazards.
- Ensure fire exits, alarms, extinguishers, hydrants, and sprinklers are working properly.
- Check electrical panels, gas lines, and storage areas for safety.
- Emergency Response
- Respond quickly during fire alarms or fire incidents.
- Operate firefighting equipment such as extinguishers, hose reels, hydrants, and pumps.
- Rescue people from dangerous areas if needed.
- Inform emergency services immediately.
- Safety Monitoring
- Patrol the premises regularly.
- Monitor smoke detectors, alarm panels, and fire pumps.
- Ensure no blocked exits or unsafe materials are present.
- Equipment Maintenance
- Check fire extinguishers expiry dates and pressure.
- Test fire alarms, hydrants, hose pipes, and emergency lights.
- Report faulty equipment for repair.
- Training & Awareness
- Conduct fire drills for staff/workers.
- Educate employees about fire safety rules.
- Guide people during evacuation.
- Documentation
- Maintain fire safety logbooks.
- Record incidents, inspections, drills, and maintenance reports.
- Coordination
- Work with security team, maintenance team, and management.
- Assist Fire Department during emergencies.
