Junior Electronics Engineer — Job Description
Company Overview
Xalten Systems is a forward-thinking technology company building cutting-edge solutions for various industries and the defence sector, with a focus on precision automation and sensor systems. As a startup, we operate from a first-principles approach — tackling complex problems head-on and building efficient, elegant solutions from the ground up.
Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Electronics Engineer to join our dynamic, fast-paced team. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate fresher to kick-start their career and learn how to take electronic designs from concept to production. Under the guidance of senior engineers, you will assist with schematic design, component sourcing, prototyping, assembly, testing, and validation.
The ideal Junior Electronics Engineer is an eager, curious learner with a disciplined, systematic approach to documentation and testing — someone who collaborates well across teams, asks questions freely, and takes full ownership of their learning curve to deliver quality results on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Sourcing: Assist in the design, development, simulation, and prototyping of reliable electronic circuits and test boards; research and source components, modules, and subsystems, coordinating with vendors and suppliers.
- Documentation & Integration: Maintain technical documentation (BOMs, schematics, test reports, usage guides), and support implementation and testing of electronic designs for robotic, embedded, and sensor systems.
- Collaboration & Testing: Work with firmware, software, and mechanical teams on project requirements and design reviews; validate product functionality, troubleshoot hardware bugs, and perform bench testing.
- Growth & Delivery: Proactively learn industry trends and design tools, prioritize tasks, and deliver quality work on time.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Experience: Freshers with a strong passion for electronics, academic projects, or internship experience in hardware design are highly encouraged to apply.
Core Knowledge & Skills
- Strong academic foundation in analog circuit design, digital electronics, and network analysis.
- Basic understanding of mixed-signal circuit design and integrating analog/digital components.
- Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., KiCad, Altium, Eagle, or Orcad) learned through academic or personal projects.
- Fundamental understanding of microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, STM32, ESP32), peripherals, and standard protocols (I2C, SPI, UART).
- Basic awareness of power supplies, voltage regulators, and thermal management in electronic circuits.
Additional Skills & Tools
- Test & Measurement: Comfortable or eager to learn lab equipment — DSOs, logic analyzers, signal generators, multimeters, electronic loads, and variable power supplies — plus basic soldering and hardware troubleshooting.
- Good to Have: C/C++ for embedded systems, VHDL/Verilog or DSP basics, Git/version control, and participation in robotics or electronics competitions are all a plus.
- Essential Traits: Eagerness to learn best practices, strong attention to detail, proactive initiative, coachability, and good written/verbal communication for documentation and teamwork.
