Job Description - Test Engineer (Drone Mapping & Robotic Systems)
- Responsible for testing embedded products and software applications for mission/safety-critical robotic and drone mapping systems.
- Perform requirement analysis, test planning, test case design, execution, debugging, system integration, and field validation activities.
- Validate drone mapping workflows including mission planning, waypoint navigation, geotagging, RTK/PPK, telemetry, payload integration, image processing, orthomosaic generation, and analytics outputs.
- Execute functional, non-functional, black-box, white-box, smoke, regression, integration, performance, stress, automation, and field-testing activities.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts/frameworks using Python, Java, C/C++, Selenium, WebDriver, Jenkins, or similar tools.
- Perform testing of control systems, communication modules, imaging analytics, AI/ML applications, enterprise platforms, and Android/iOS applications.
- Analyze logs, sensor data, and defects; perform root-cause analysis and support issue resolution with development teams.
- Maintain test artefacts, traceability, defect reports, and validation documentation as per V&V, QA, and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support release validation, customer issues, audit readiness, and continuous quality improvement.
- Participate in real-world flight-testing activities and ensure reliability, safety, and performance of UAV systems.
Skills & Qualification
- Degree in Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation, or equivalent.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in software, embedded system, or automation testing.
- Hands-on experience in automation tools/frameworks such as Python, Selenium, Java, WebDriver, Jenkins, SVN/Git, or similar technologies.
- Experience in drone/UAV systems, mapping workflows, payload testing, GIS/photogrammetry tools, or field validation is preferred.
- Good understanding of SDLC, STLC, V&V processes, defect lifecycle, and quality assurance practices.
- Strong analytical, debugging, communication, and documentation skills with ability to work in collaborative environments.
- Ability to effectively communicate testing status, issues, risks, and deliver quality outputs within timelines.
