Job Summary
The Pharmacy In-Charge is responsible for the overall management and smooth functioning of the hospital pharmacy. The role includes ensuring the availability of medicines, regulatory compliance, inventory management, staff supervision, patient safety, and maintaining high standards of pharmaceutical services.
Key Responsibilities1. Pharmacy Operations
- Ensure the smooth day-to-day functioning of the pharmacy.
- Supervise dispensing of medicines accurately as per valid prescriptions.
- Ensure timely availability of medicines, consumables, and surgical items.
- Monitor the quality and safe storage of all pharmaceutical products.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and pharmacy SOPs.
2. Inventory Management
- Maintain optimum stock levels of medicines and consumables.
- Monitor fast-moving, slow-moving, and non-moving inventory.
- Prevent stock shortages and overstocking.
- Verify inward and outward stock entries on a daily basis.
- Conduct periodic physical stock verification.
- Ensure FEFO/FIFO principles are followed.
- Monitor and minimize medicine expiry and wastage.
3. Procurement & Vendor Coordination
- Prepare purchase requisitions based on consumption trends.
- Coordinate with the purchase department and suppliers.
- Compare quotations and ensure cost-effective procurement.
- Verify received medicines against purchase orders and invoices.
- Follow up with vendors for pending supplies and replacements.
4. Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and applicable pharmacy regulations.
- Maintain all statutory licenses and records.
- Ensure narcotic and controlled drug registers are maintained properly.
- Maintain documentation required for NABH and other regulatory audits.
5. Staff Management
- Supervise pharmacists and pharmacy assistants.
- Prepare duty rosters and shift allocations.
- Monitor staff attendance, discipline, and performance.
- Train new employees on pharmacy procedures and safety protocols.
- Conduct periodic staff meetings and performance reviews.
6. Patient Safety & Quality
- Ensure accurate dispensing of medicines.
- Prevent medication errors through proper verification.
- Educate patients regarding dosage, storage, and medication precautions whenever required.
- Handle medication-related complaints professionally.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
7. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain daily sales and stock reports.
- Submit monthly inventory and consumption reports to management.
- Maintain records of expired, damaged, and returned medicines.
- Generate reports required for audits and inspections.
8. Coordination
- Coordinate with doctors, nursing staff, OT, ICU, wards, emergency, and other departments for uninterrupted medicine supply.
- Ensure emergency medicines are available at all times.
- Support management during NABH inspections and quality initiatives.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Zero critical stock-outs of essential medicines.
- Timely procurement and replenishment of inventory.
- Minimal expired medicine losses.
- 100% compliance with statutory and NABH requirements.
- Accurate stock records and inventory reconciliation.
- Timely submission of pharmacy reports.
- High patient and clinician satisfaction.
- Effective supervision and productivity of pharmacy staff.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm).
- Valid State Pharmacy Council Registration.
- Experience in hospital pharmacy operations is preferred.
- Knowledge of NABH standards and hospital pharmacy practices.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
