Job Summary:
A Lathe Operator is responsible for operating manual or automatic lathe machines to shape metal or other materials according to engineering drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate lathe machines for turning, facing, threading, and drilling operations.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Select and install the correct cutting tools, fixtures, and materials.
- Inspect finished products using measuring tools (vernier, micrometer, and gauges).
- Ensure the dimensions and surface finish meet quality standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of the machine.
- Follow all safety and production procedures.
- Report machine malfunctions or tool wear to the supervisor.
Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of lathe machine operations.
- Ability to read mechanical and engineering drawings.
- Hands-on experience with measuring instruments.
- Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Qualification:
- ITI / Diploma in Turner, Fitter, or Mechanical Engineering.
Salary Range:
- ₹15,500–₹28,800 per month (depending on experience and skill).
