Job Summary
The Construction Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, monitoring, and supervising construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards. The role serves as the technical link between the design team, contractors, consultants, and clients.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Planning & Coordination
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Coordinate with architects, structural, MEP, and other engineering disciplines.
- Prepare work schedules and monitor project progress.
- Ensure resources, materials, and equipment are available as planned.
- Conduct daily site coordination meetings.
Site Supervision
- Supervise construction activities and monitor workmanship.
- Verify construction complies with approved drawings and specifications.
- Resolve technical issues at site.
- Coordinate subcontractor activities.
- Monitor daily productivity and progress.
Quality Management
- Implement project Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures.
- Conduct inspections before, during, and after construction.
- Review Inspection Requests (IRs) and Material Inspection Requests (MIRs).
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Identify and rectify non-conformances.
Safety Management
- Ensure compliance with HSE regulations.
- Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- Identify construction hazards and implement preventive measures.
- Coordinate with HSE officers to maintain a safe work environment.
Cost & Schedule Control
- Monitor project schedule against baseline.
- Track quantities and work progress.
- Review contractor invoices and work measurements.
- Assist in cost control and change order evaluation.
- Report schedule delays and recommend corrective actions.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Maintain project records and documentation.
- Review RFIs, shop drawings, and method statements.
- Maintain inspection records and material approvals.
- Coordinate project close-out documentation.
Client & Consultant Coordination
- Attend client and consultant meetings.
- Present project progress updates.
- Coordinate approvals and inspections.
- Ensure timely response to technical queries.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree/ Diploma in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)
- 3–5 years of construction project experience
- Knowledge of construction methods and engineering practices
- Familiarity with local building codes and international standards
- Experience in commercial, industrial, residential, or infrastructure projects
