Job Summary
RBM Hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled OT Technician to assist surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing staff in ensuring smooth operation of surgical procedures. The OT Technician will be responsible for preparing the operation theatre, maintaining surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring infection control protocols, and providing technical support during surgeries.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Operative Duties
- Prepare and sterilize operation theatre, instruments, and equipment before surgical procedures.
- Ensure availability of all surgical supplies, consumables, and instruments.
- Assist in patient preparation and transfer to the operation theatre.
- Check functionality of OT equipment, monitors, suction machines, cautery machines, and anesthesia equipment.
Intra-Operative Duties
- Assist surgeons and OT nurses during surgical procedures.
- Arrange and provide required instruments and supplies during surgery.
- Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control standards.
- Monitor and handle OT equipment as required during procedures.
Post-Operative Duties
- Clean, disinfect, and prepare OT for subsequent surgeries.
- Assist in transferring patients safely to recovery rooms or wards.
- Ensure proper disposal of biomedical waste as per hospital protocols.
- Maintain records of instruments, equipment, and OT supplies.
Equipment & Inventory Management
- Monitor stock levels of OT consumables and surgical supplies.
- Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs.
- Maintain inventory and ensure timely replenishment of supplies.
Compliance & Safety
- Follow NABH, infection control, and patient safety guidelines.
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
- Participate in OT quality improvement and safety initiatives.
Qualifications
- Diploma/Degree in Operation Theatre Technology (OTT) from a recognized institute.
- Certification in OT Technology preferred.
- Knowledge of sterilization procedures and infection control practices.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a hospital operation theatre.
- Experience in handling OT equipment and assisting in surgeries preferred.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of surgical instruments and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic computer knowledge for documentation and record keeping.
