Job Summary
Position Overview
The Scheduling Analyst is responsible for the design, execution, and optimization of batch scheduling operations across mainframe and distributed computing environments. This role requires solid experience with enterprise workload automation tools—particularly CA Workload Automation (ESP)—and strong operational judgment in maintaining reliable, high‑availability batch ecosystems. Key Responsibilities
Independently manage, monitor, and optimize batch schedules using CA Workload Automation (ESP), ensuring accuracy, reliability, and adherence to service-level requirements.
Lead workflow and scheduling operations across Mainframe, Linux, and Windows platforms, including cross‑system dependency management.
Perform advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis by reviewing logs, analyzing failure patterns, and implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
Oversee incident, change, and request management using ServiceNow (or comparable ITSM tools), including creating, updating, and approving appropriate records.
Provide subject-matter expertise in mainframe operational activities , leveraging tools such as OPS/MVS to enhance automation and operational resiliency.
Manage version control and code promotion processes using ChangeMan or other enterprise configuration management tools.
Support high availability and disaster recovery operations , including contributing to DR tests, failover procedures, and resilience planning.
Collaborate with engineering, application, and operations teams to ensure flawless execution of scheduled workloads and continuous process improvement.
Identify and implement automation opportunities to streamline batch processes and reduce manual intervention.
Mentor junior analysts , providing guidance, onboarding support, and knowledge sharing.
Required Skills & Qualifications
2+ years of experience in IT operations, workload scheduling, or batch processing environments.
Hands-on expertise with CA Workload Automation (ESP) , including development, maintenance, and optimization of workflows.
Strong proficiency in command-line environments (mainframe, Linux, and/or Windows).
Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills , with the ability to resolve complex batch failures and systemic issues.
Experience with ServiceNow or other ITSM platforms , including incident, change, and problem management.
Solid understanding of mainframe environments, automation frameworks, and OPS/MVS concepts.
