The Ice Cream Maker is responsible for preparing, mixing, pasteurizing, freezing, and packaging ice cream products according to approved recipes, quality standards, and food safety regulations. The role requires attention to detail, hygiene, and consistency to ensure every batch meets the company's quality expectations.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction
- Prepare ice cream mixes according to standardized recipes.
- Accurately weigh and measure ingredients.
- Operate pasteurizers, homogenizers, aging tanks, and freezers.
- Monitor production processes and maintain product consistency.
- Add flavors, colors, fruits, nuts, chocolate, and other inclusions as per specifications.
- Fill and package finished products in cups, tubs, cones, or bulk containers.
- Label products correctly before storage.
Quality Control
- Ensure every batch meets quality specifications.
- Check texture, flavor, color, and appearance of products.
- Monitor processing temperatures and freezing conditions.
- Report any quality issues or equipment malfunctions immediately.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Hygiene & Food Safety
- Maintain high standards of personal hygiene.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Hygiene Practices (GHP).
- Comply with FSSAI food safety regulations.
- Clean and sanitize equipment and work areas before and after production.
- Prevent cross-contamination during production.
Equipment Operation
- Operate production machinery safely and efficiently.
- Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of equipment.
- Inform the maintenance team of any mechanical issues.
- Maintain production records and machine logs.
Inventory
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and packaging materials.
- Minimize wastage of raw materials.
- Store ingredients according to prescribed temperature and hygiene requirements.
Qualifications
- High School (10th/12th) or ITI; Diploma in Food Technology or Dairy Technology is an advantage.
- Experience in ice cream, dairy, bakery, or food manufacturing is preferred.
Skills
- Knowledge of ice cream production processes.
- Ability to operate food processing machinery.
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work in cold environments and stand for extended periods.
- Teamwork and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg (where required).
- Comfortable working in refrigerated or cold production areas.
- Ability to stand and perform repetitive tasks for long periods.
Working Conditions
- Shift-based work, including weekends or holidays if production demands.
- Exposure to cold storage and refrigerated environments.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, hairnets, masks, aprons, and safety shoes.
