Job Description:
Job Summary:
The SAP S/4HANA PP/PPDS Functional Engineer will provide functional support for SAP Production Planning and related planning processes in an application maintenance environment. The role focuses on day-to-day operational support, incident and service request handling, issue analysis, testing, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
The role requires solid SAP PP knowledge and a willingness to further develop practical expertise in embedded PP/DS through project exposure, support activities and collaboration with senior experts.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Provide functional support for SAP S/4HANA Production Planning processes in a global AMS environment.
- Support business users, key users and Business Process Owners in resolving incidents, service requests and functional questions.
- Support core manufacturing planning processes, including demand management, MRP, production orders, capacity planning and planning-related master data.
- Provide basic support for embedded PP/DS processes, with the expectation to further develop PP/DS expertise through hands-on work, knowledge transfer and project involvement.
- Perform initial issue analysis, business impact assessment, root cause analysis and coordination with technical teams, senior functional experts or external partners where needed.
- Support change requests and enhancements by performing impact analysis, functional testing, regression testing and documentation updates.
- Work according to ITIL-based AMS processes, including incident management, request fulfilment, problem management and change management.
- Use support and collaboration tools such as ServiceNow, Jira and Confluence for ticket handling, documentation, issue tracking and knowledge sharing.
- Support local deployments and hypercare activities by helping users adopt the global template and by resolving planning-related issues after go-live.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in areas such as Materials Management, Quality Management, Warehousing, Supply Chain and Manufacturing Execution.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues, proposing improvements and supporting stabilization of the global template.
Experience and Skills
- Hands-on experience in SAP PP implementation, support or application maintenance.
- Good functional understanding of SAP Production Planning processes, including demand management, MRP, production orders, capacity planning and planning master data.
- Basic or practical exposure to SAP embedded PP/DS, or strong willingness and ability to develop PP/DS expertise through hands-on support and project work.
- Experience working in an AMS, production support or IT support environment.
- Good understanding of ITIL-based support processes, especially incident management, service request handling, problem management and change management.
- Experience using support and collaboration tools such as ServiceNow, Jira and Confluence.
- Ability to analyze functional issues, communicate clearly with business users and coordinate resolution with other teams.
- Understanding of integration points between Production Planning and related areas such as MM, QM, Warehousing, Supply Chain or Manufacturing Execution.
- Good testing skills, including functional testing, regression testing and support for change validation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a global, multicultural and highly integrated business environment.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
Nice to Have
- Deeper hands-on experience with embedded PP/DS in SAP S/4HANA, including detailed scheduling, planning heuristics, alerts, resources, production versions or PDS integration.
- Experience with SAP Digital Manufacturing, MES or shopfloor integration.
- Knowledge of Advanced Variant Configuration.
- Exposure to SAP PM or SAP QM processes.
- Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA deployments, rollouts or hypercare.
- SAP certification in SAP PP, PP/DS or related modules.
- Experience working with global templates and standardized business processes.
Grading Differentiators
- Good knowledge of SAP PP processes and ability to provide independent functional support within the assigned scope.
- Basic practical understanding of PP/DS and clear motivation to develop stronger PP/DS expertise.
- Ability to resolve standard and moderately complex functional issues in an AMS environment.
- Good understanding of ITIL-based support processes and disciplined ticket handling.
- Ability to work with business users, key users, IT teams and external partners in a structured and collaborative way.
- Contribution to documentation, knowledge sharing, testing, stabilization and continuous improvement activities.
