We're looking for our first dedicated HR person — someone who can own the full people function end to end. This is a hands-on generalist role, not a specialist one. You'll recruit across very different kinds of roles (creative, analytical, operational), set up our HR systems from scratch, keep us compliant with Indian labour and statutory requirements, and help shape a culture of discipline and ownership.

Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & hiring
- Manage end-to-end hiring: writing JDs, sourcing, screening, scheduling, and coordinating offers across roles like video editors, research analysts, content writers, and support staff.
- Build a reliable candidate pipeline using job portals (Naukri, LinkedIn, Internshala), referrals, and freelance networks.
- Run a structured, fair interview process and keep the candidate experience professional.
Onboarding & employee lifecycle
- Own onboarding so new hires are set up, documented, and productive from day one.
- Maintain accurate employee records, contracts, and a basic HRMS / organised documentation system.
- Manage confirmations, transitions, exits, and full-and-final settlements.
HR operations & payroll
- Coordinate monthly payroll inputs (attendance, leaves, reimbursements) with finance/accounts.
- Administer leave, attendance, and basic policy enforcement.
- Draft and maintain core HR policies (leave, conduct, confidentiality, work hours).
Statutory & compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable Indian labour laws — PF, ESIC, Professional Tax, Shops & Establishments Act, and related filings (in coordination with consultants/CA where needed).
- Maintain strict confidentiality standards, which matter especially given our research and markets work.
Culture, performance & engagement
- Help build and protect a culture of discipline, ownership, and integrity.
- Set up a simple performance review and feedback rhythm.
- Drive engagement, recognition, and team-building in a small, high-output environment.
Office & people admin
- Handle day-to-day people-side admin and act as the go-to person for employee queries.
What We're Looking For
- 3–5 years of HR experience, ideally in a startup, agency, or small-team environment where you handled multiple HR functions.
- Solid working knowledge of Indian statutory compliance (PF, ESIC, PT, labour law basics).
- Strong recruitment skills across both creative and analytical roles.
- Excellent communication and a high level of discretion and integrity.
- Organised, self-driven, and comfortable building processes without a playbook handed to you.
- Bachelor's degree (HR/Business preferred); MBA-HR is a plus, not a requirement.
Nice to Have
- Experience hiring for content, media, or finance/fintech teams.
- Familiarity with HRMS / payroll tools (Keka, Zoho People, RazorpayX Payroll, or similar).
- Comfort working directly with a founder in a fast-changing setup.
