Role and Company Overview:
LEDFlex Group was established in 2010 after identifying a gap in the market for a more comprehensive range of linear lighting products and has now grown into a leading technology supplier. We design, develop and manufacture LED lighting solutions for the UK and International markets. At LEDFlex we continue to lead the way in performance, efficiency and ecological friendly exterior and interior projects.
We are seeking a skilled production professional with a strong background in lighting production, assembly and injection moulding to lead a shop-floor team. The ideal candidate combines solid technical know-how of LED linear lighting manufacturing with proven people-management ability, ensuring production runs efficiently, safely, and to quality standard, while communicating clearly with management and cross-functional teams.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Team & technician management:
- Supervise and coordinate the daily work of multiple technicians across assembly and injection moulding stations, assigning tasks based on skill level, priority, and order deadlines.
- Conduct shift briefings/toolbox talks to communicate daily targets, priorities, and safety points to the team.
- Identify skill gaps within the team and provide on-the-job training/coaching to technicians on lighting assembly techniques and machine operation.
- Evaluate individual and team performance, providing feedback and supporting performance reviews or disciplinary matters in line with HR policy.
- Manage technician rosters, shift coverage, leave planning, and overtime to ensure adequate manpower on the line at all times.
- Act as the first point of escalation for technical or interpersonal issues raised by technicians, resolving or escalating as appropriate.
- Foster a collaborative, safety-first team culture and drive accountability for quality and output among technicians.
Lighting production expertise:
- Apply hands-on technical knowledge of LED linear lighting components (LED chips, drivers/power supplies, PCBs, connectors, diffusers/profiles) to guide correct assembly practices.
- Troubleshoot technical issues on the line related to LED soldering, wiring, connector fitting, and light output/colour consistency, guiding technicians to first time-right resolution.
- Ensure technicians follow correct handling and ESD (electrostatic discharge) precautions when working with LED components and circuit boards.
- Review and interpret product specifications, technical drawings, and bills of materials for lighting products, and translate them into clear work instructions for technicians.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) by helping set up assembly processes and training technicians on new lighting product lines.
- Verify finished lighting products against quality/technical standards (light output, colour temperature, dimming function, IP rating where applicable) before sign-off.
Establishing processes & procedures (new team):
- Design, document, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for assembly, injection moulding, and quality checkpoints, as the production team is newly established.
- Introduce standardized work instructions, checklists, and process flow documents for each production stage to ensure consistency across shifts and technicians.
- Set up and roll out shift handover formats, production logs, and reporting templates for the team to follow.
- Establish safety procedures, 5S standards, and housekeeping routines from the ground up, and train the team to follow them.
- Continuously review and refine newly introduced processes based on floor feedback and production data, adjusting as the team matures.
- Act as the process owner during the initial setup phase, ensuring procedures are practical, followed consistently, and improved over time.
QC management:
- Establish and manage the quality control process across incoming components, in-process checks, and final product inspection.
- Define inspection checkpoints, sampling methods, and acceptance/rejection criteria for LED lighting products at each production stage.
- Maintain QC records, defect logs, and non-conformance reports (NCRs), and track recurring issues to root cause.
- Lead root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) for quality issues identified on the line.
- Coordinate with the Quality/QA function (or take ownership where no separate QA team exists) to ensure products meet company and customer specifications before dispatch.
- Train technicians on quality standards and self-inspection practices to reduce downstream defects.
RMA (Return Material Authorization) process:
- Set up and manage the RMA process for returned/defective products, from receipt through inspection, diagnosis, and disposition (repair, rework, replace, or scrap).
- Investigate returned units to identify failure modes and feed findings back into production and QC to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain RMA logs and reports, tracking turnaround time, return rates, and top return reasons.
- Liaise with sales/customer service and warehouse teams to ensure timely processing and communication on RMA status.
- Use RMA/defect trend data to drive continuous improvement in assembly and moulding processes.
Key Skills Required:
- Strong team leadership, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Good organisational and time-management skills; able to work under production deadlines.
- Problem-solving mindset with a hands-on, proactive approach.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety conscious.
Preferred Qualification & Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years' hands-on experience in production/assembly and injection moulding, ideally within the lighting or LED industry.
- Demonstrated experience supervising or leading a production team (shift leader, team leader, or supervisor level).
- Solid, practical knowledge of LED linear lighting products and manufacturing processes (strongly preferred).
- Good command of English, spoken and written, sufficient to train staff, read specifications, and report to management.
- Working knowledge of quality control principles and basic production documentation/reporting.
- Ability to read technical drawings, work instructions, and bills of materials.
- Physically able to work on a production floor, including standing for extended periods and light lifting.
- Diploma or vocational qualification in a technical/engineering field is an advantage but not mandatory with sufficient experience.
What You’ll Get Working with LEDFlex:
- Will have a Competitive Salary (depending on experience, negotiable).
- Desirable Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM, 5:00 PM – 2:00 AM with a one-hour lunch break.
