Job Purpose
To provide a safe, secure, disciplined, and nurturing residential environment for children residing in the Boys Home. The Residential Warden is responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of the children, ensuring their welfare, maintaining discipline, promoting good habits, and coordinating with the Residential Superintendent, education staff, healthcare providers, and other support departments.
Key Responsibilities1. Child Care & Welfare
- Ensure the safety, security, and well-being of all children under his care.
- Act as a responsible guardian during assigned shifts.
- Maintain a caring, supportive, and child-friendly environment.
- Identify and report any emotional, behavioural, or health concerns immediately.
- Encourage personal hygiene, cleanliness, and healthy living habits.
2. Residential Supervision
- Supervise children's daily routine including:
- Wake-up and bedtime
- Bathing and personal grooming
- Prayer
- Study hours
- Meal timings
- Recreation
- Ensure punctual attendance for school, tuition, prayer, and other scheduled activities.
- Conduct regular room inspections for cleanliness and discipline.
3. Discipline & Behaviour Management
- Maintain discipline through positive guidance and counselling.
- Ensure children follow house rules and institutional policies.
- Address behavioural issues professionally without using corporal punishment or abusive language.
- Report serious disciplinary matters to the Residential Superintendent.
4. Safety & Security
- Monitor movement of children inside and outside the campus.
- Maintain attendance and movement registers.
- Ensure no child leaves the premises without proper authorization.
- Conduct head counts during shift changes, outings, and emergencies.
- Report accidents, injuries, missing children, or security concerns immediately.
5. Health & Hygiene
- Monitor children's health and report illness promptly.
- Coordinate medical visits when required.
- Ensure prescribed medicines are administered under proper guidance.
- Maintain cleanliness of dormitories, bathrooms, and common areas.
6. Academic Support
- Ensure children attend school regularly.
- Supervise study hours.
- Encourage academic performance and homework completion.
- Coordinate with teachers regarding children's progress.
7. Recreation & Personality Development
- Encourage participation in sports, games, cultural activities, and life skill programmes.
- Promote teamwork, leadership, discipline, and positive values.
- Motivate children to participate in extracurricular activities.
8. Record Keeping
Maintain accurate records including:
- Attendance Register
- Movement Register
- Visitors Register
- Leave Register
- Incident Reports
- Medical Records (as assigned)
- Daily Shift Log Book
9. Coordination
Coordinate with:
- Residential Superintendent
- Teachers
- Counsellors
- Medical staff
- Kitchen staff
- Security
- Housekeeping
- Parents/Guardians (when authorised)
10. Emergency Response
- Respond promptly during emergencies.
- Assist during medical emergencies, fire drills, evacuations, and disaster situations.
- Ensure children's safety until further instructions are received.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Ensure institutional property is properly maintained.
- Report maintenance issues immediately.
- Monitor proper use of dormitory furniture and equipment.
- Assist during admissions and discharges of children.
- Support institutional programmes and special events.
- Perform duties assigned by the Residential Superintendent.
