Job Purpose
To lead the overall operations of the Tea Factory by ensuring efficient production, superior product quality, cost optimization, inventory control, regulatory compliance, and driving sales growth through strong market and customer engagement. The role requires a balanced expertise in tea manufacturing as well as domestic and institutional tea sales.
Key Responsibilities
1. Factory Operations
- Manage end-to-end tea manufacturing operations, ensuring optimum productivity and quality.
- Plan and monitor daily production schedules to meet demand forecasts.
- Improve operational efficiency, minimize wastage, and reduce production costs.
- Ensure preventive maintenance of all factory machinery and utilities.
2. Quality Assurance
- Maintain consistent product quality in line with FSSAI, Tea Board, ISO, HACCP, and other statutory standards.
- Conduct regular quality checks on raw materials, in-process production, and finished goods.
- Drive continuous improvement in tea blending, grading, packaging, and product innovation.
3. Sales & Business Development
- Develop and execute sales strategies to increase revenue and market share.
- Build and maintain relationships with distributors, wholesalers, institutional buyers, exporters, and retail partners.
- Identify new business opportunities and expand market presence.
- Monitor competitor activities, pricing trends, and consumer preferences.
4. Procurement & Supply Chain
- Manage procurement of green leaf, bought leaf, packaging materials, and consumables.
- Ensure optimum inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods.
- Coordinate with logistics for timely dispatch and customer deliveries.
5. Financial Management
- Prepare and manage factory budgets and operating costs.
- Monitor production cost per kilogram and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Drive improvements in gross margins and profitability.
- Ensure efficient working capital and inventory management.
6. Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop factory supervisors, production staff, and sales personnel.
- Establish performance KPIs and conduct periodic performance reviews.
- Foster a culture of discipline, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
7. Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with labour laws, environmental regulations, KSPCB norms, Tea Board guidelines, and statutory requirements.
- Maintain high standards of workplace safety and hygiene.
- Ensure timely statutory reporting and documentation.
